Ooh, yikes. Most stolen mic ever... no serial numbers, millions sold, one from 2005 looks exactly like one from 1973. Despite the fact that they've always been a bit overpriced, they still sell like hotcakes.

Coupla hints:
Engrave your name real big, right on the side. It won't void the warranty, and chances are, you won't be selling it. If it's used when you buy it, maybe put a splotch of spray paint on the side... some gay color nobody would use. I've seen very respectable national sound co's do this, and it cuts down on supposed "mix-ups" where a mic gets "accidentally" put in a muso's case.
Never EVER mark your mic box on the outside with anything but your name and phone. Never "microphones," or "mikes." You may as well write, "STEAL ME FIRST -- I'M SMALL AND EXPENSIVE!!"
I seldom even carry mics in the plastic zipper bags they come in... I use something else that doesn't usually hold mics, but works even better.
Something else I've heard: unscrew the set screw on the XLR connector, pull the connector out and put a tiny piece of paper in there with your last name and last four digits of your social security #, then replace the connector and tighten. If it is stolen, the cops can prove it's yours, yet it doesn't detract from the looks of the mic.
I'll watch for the mics at local pawns, good luck.--->JMS

Yeah, baby! Next time you see me, you'll be all, "Is that a low-impedance cardioid dynamic microphone with die-cast body in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" :D ---->JMS
