CONCERT TICKETS ARE OUTRAGEOUS!

Post by ImAGrimmette »

Is it just me or have you noticed how over priced some of these concerts are this year? I mean I was surfing around tonight checking out some shows I would be interested in seeing. I about flipped when I saw the prices for the "med-a-oaker" seats.

FOR EXAMPLE: Motley Crue (who I would love to go see! influenced my entire teenage life!) $175.00 for a decent seat @ Post Gazette... I WAS IN SHOCK!!!

So I continued: Judas Priest/Queenryche $65.00
Dave Matthews $54.00
3 Doors Down $60.00 (it cost more to go see them
then Dave Matthews???? something wrong there!)
Ozzfest $200.00 - OMG!!!!!

These next 2 just crack me up  : Stevie Nicks $126.00
and Reba McEntire $225.00
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!

Geez... till you pay for gas @ $2.something a gallon - pick up your drink of choice - pay for parking - buy souviners (if you can afford any at this point) I have to ask: IS IT WORTH IT????? WHATS YOUR OPINION?????

Just Curious....

Yes that is crazy, but as long as people pay for it they will charge it.

I heard late that Green Day was coming to Pittsburgh, i wanted to take the boy but it was sold out, only $35 for them though, I thought that was decent.
Don't bitch to me about the economy while you're still buying Chinese products.

I paid $40.00 for 3rd row Skynyrd tix at the York fair, That includes fair entry. Not bad. The most I paid to see Overkill on this tour was $20.00 and that was thru TicketBastard. The festivals are way out of my price range, plus I'd only REALLY be there for a couple of the bands. Then they charge like $4.00 for a friggin bottle of water! NO thanks!

200.00 for Reba ??? that is probably from one of those thrid party scalper companies. The last time she was at Jordan Center w. Brooks and Dunn they were 72.00. I'm going to see jimmy buffett next month in pittsburgh, his tickets were around 100.00 a peace ..

I do agree that they are way over priced. Just depends on who it is. To bad not all bands were like Garth. He would not allow the price to go over 18.00 , if they did he refused to play at the venue .. Then he could do that ..

Ticket prices are getting way out of hand. I remember about 10 to 15 years ago I used to go to see bands like Overkill (4 times), Death (2 times), Gwar (4 times), Prong (2 times), and even Slayer (not mentioning the openers and several other metal fests that I don't recall who all was at) at City Limits in Penn Hills (outside of Pittsburgh) . The most I ever paid for a ticket was Overkill opening for Slayer @ $12 a ticket (accually I guess that woulda been about '88 or '89, I believe Slayer was touring the South of Heaven album). Most shows were $7 or $8 a ticket. Even bigger shows at bigger venues weren't too much. Hell the clash of the titans tour in '92 I payed $16 to see Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer. That was for floor seats at Richfield stadium in Cleavland. Over the last few years I haven't been goin to see many concerts because of the price of tickets now a days.

Actually...2 queensryche tix will run you 151 and change...don't forget that fucking convenience charge...how convenient!

Oh, I checked ticketmaster.com and they said there are no greater pittsburgh area dates scheduled for ozzfest, and most every other place that has them on sale, has them for like 75$.

75$ to see like 16+ bands (yeah, I know a lot of them suck) at an all day event...not too shabby.

I do agree though, ticket prices are insane.

In about 1974, I saw my first concert at the War Memorial. It was Black Oak Arkansas and tickets were $2.25. One fifth of the current convenience charge.

Heh, this is why I stick to punk shows, ha ha ha.

Even advertised prices get jacked here due to Ticketmaster. Say a show's advertised at $25, you pay almost $45 due to "processing fees" and shit.

I want to see Velvet Revolver, but Hoobastank's openinging, & I'm not sure of a 3rd band on the bill... but I'm not gonna sit through all that shit just to see only 1 band that I like, pay overpriced admission for, pay $5 for a Coke or water if I'm thirsty, and all thta bullshit.

I spent $90 total for my girlfriend and I to see Def Leppard/Bryan Adams in Lancaster in July. It's all general admission, so if you have spare time (Like I will have), you could get front row. Not too bad.

Saw my first concert there too. The Outlaws in '79 or '80.

My first show was Kix/Krokus/ Ted Nugent (1982) at City Island in Harrisburg: $12 Baseball tee shirt: $7. Sticker: free with a sermon from guy witnessing about how metal is from the Devil. Sucking face with some drunk and high girl I just met: priceless. For everything 23 years later, there's Mastercard, and plenty of it.

I got the "better" seats for Priest...$75. That's about what I paid for the first 5 shows I went to, a total of about 12 or 13 bands, no side stages. Such is the price we pay to relive our misspent youth!--->JMS

Ya know, it's less than $5 to go see a Beyond Reason concert. If you feel compelled to spend more, since musicians are always rich, you can add tax of $20 and mail to me, Esa, c/o Beyond Reason...
