Are we talking about the same Hardline (featuring Neal Schon from Journey and Santana fame)? The "Hot Cherie" guys? Didn't know that!313 wrote:Well, at least part of Wild Cherry was mentioned - Donny Iris (or Ierace as he spelled his last name before going solo).lonewolf wrote:I'm surprised nobody mentioned Wild Cherry from Pittsburgh.
Another local hard rock band that hit the big time is Hardline. They had at least one major hit in the early 90s. Although they were considered to be a Hollywood band, they originated in Harrisburg as Killerhit (saw them a few times). After playing central PA for a year or so, they changed their name to Brunette and relocated to Hollywood - later becoming Hardline.
The guitar player for Sevendust (who was formerly in the band Snot) is from Chambersburg.
... and I'm glad that you knew the true spelling of Donnie Iris' name. I lived near Ellwood City some time ago, and the locals made sure that I knew that. Did you know that he runs a morgage company now out of Alliquippa? That's not to overshadow his commercials with Armstrong Cable, McEllwain Motors, and the gigs that he does every once and again.

Bobby Vinton is from Canonsburg, as well. He actually gives back to the town, where Como could give a rat's ass less.lonewolf wrote:Perry Como was from Canonsburg. He was the seventh son of a seventh son.
While I'm thinking about it, I don't see where Christina Aguilera from Wexford, PA (20 minutes north of downtown Pittsburgh) was mentioned. I know, she's not rock, but neither was a lot of the posts.

That's something that sucks hard core too. Put me infront of a pact theatre and I'm fine to act, sing, play, sign. whatever.PastorofMuppets wrote:i think that anyone who gets up on a stage, or plays in front of people should be mentioned. they're are millions of people who would love to play, but can't because they are deathly afraid to even try.
Put me in a basement with three people and my man, and I'm scared to death he's going to think I sound like shyte.
So, why the nerves there and not for the packed place? Are there alot of people like that?

Yes, that's the same Hardline. Obviously, Schon wasn't part of the Pennsylvania-based bands Killerhit or Brunette. He became interested after Brunette were signed, and they changed their name to Hardline. The Gaeoli (sp?) brothers were part of each band though (Killerhit, Brunette, and Hardline).Bert|Evil wrote:

Interesting story about Brunette... shortly after they relocated to Hollywood they pulled off a fantastic marketing ploy. The had an airplane circle a large outdoor concert for hours. The plane carried a banner advertising their band. It must have worked, as they were signed shortly thereafter.

Ahhh, so Schon is quite the opportunist?!313 wrote:Yes, that's the same Hardline. Obviously, Schon wasn't part of the Pennsylvania-based bands Killerhit or Brunette. hmm .. The way I thought was that Schon got his start in Santana, I believe he was 16. Him and Gregg Rolie left to start journey. After Rolie left they got Jonothan Cain (Formerly with Jown Wait) to take his place. Joueny is still together, minus Steve Perry .. I never heard of any other projects of schons, except for a couple of solo albums and his stint with bad english. That is cool to know about that though ...
As for Christina Aguilera (sp?), my wifes cousin went to school with her. She didn't like her. I won't repeat the things she says about her lol.. You also for got to mention that Karl Logan (from manowar) is from Pittsburgh as well. And, I know it's not rock, but country groups Sawyer Brown are from Scranton, Restless Heart is from Harrisburgh, and lead guitar player from Black Hawk (Van Stephenson - he's dead now) was from Altooona.

May I ask which high school she knew her from? Christina went to North Allegheny (Wexford) and Rochester (in Beaver County). She got picked on heavily at both for being a "child star" because of her involvement with the Mickey Mouse Club. As rumor has it, her song Genie in a Bottle was hitting the charts right when her prom was scheduled. She couldn't go, but she asked that they play the song at the prom... AND THEY DIDN'T!!f.sciarrillo wrote: As for Christina Aguilera (sp?), my wifes cousin went to school with her. She didn't like her. I won't repeat the things she says about her lol..

I'm sorry I was mis informed, she didn't go to the same school, but she knows people who did - You may shoot me lol. The way I was told was that she went to her prom. When they played her song no one got up to dance. It embarrassed her so bad that she ran out crying .. People said she was a real *&*(&(*&*&*(*& to put it mildly ..Bert|Evil wrote:May I ask which high school she knew her from? I think he spells it "Gerry Stanek". I'll never be able to forget Mind Blower.jet_king wrote:And there was Jerry Stanik (spelling?) from Northern Cambria, I believe. Went to New York and was in "The Lost" for awhile . . . I think they did an album or two.
(If I'm wrong on either count, set me straight!)
Him and I have a relative connection (of sorts), so I can tell you that he's been in the area for a while. Last I heard, he was working in Jtown in a marketing position.

My wife's cousin went to school there. No one hated her because she was getting famous. They hated her because for as long as they knew her she was the biggest slut that anyone there had ever seen from what I was told (wishing I lived near Pittsburgh then....) not to mention a bitch. And the prom story is true. They were all dancing, that song came on and then everyone walked off the floor. She ran out crying.f.sciarrillo wrote:I'm sorry I was mis informed, she didn't go to the same school, but she knows people who did - You may shoot me lol. Thanx for clearing that up dude, I wasn't sure if the stories were true or not. That was funny lol ..Punkinhead wrote:My wife's cousin went to school there.
