Halestorm could be next...

Post by Jim Price »

Given the recent threads about bands from this state who made it or came close, I thought I'd pass along this news...Halestorm has hooked up with McGathy Promotions. This is pretty big: Bill McGathy is the manager/promoter who broke Creed, 3 Doors Down, Chevelle, Shinedown, Puddle Of Mudd and other artists nationally. Halestorm is changing their name with this new development. There's more information at this link on Halestorm's website:

http://www.halestormrocks.com/pages/news.asp

For anybody who saw Halestorm in the days when they played Peter C's, the Castle Pub, Altoona's Station Mall and the Cresson Sportsmen's Club (the latter two back in the days when young drummer Arejay spun upside down on his drum riser), this band has indeed come a long way...

I see on their website they want fans to suggest possible names, followed by a PS "The name WILL be changed, so don't sugest we remain as Halestorm." Anyone know what's up with that? I always thought Halestorm was a pretty good name, and given that two of the people in the band have the last name of Hale, I thought it was great for them.

Anyone have any insight into this?

Anyway - good luck to them.

Gee, how 'bout "The McGathy's" :( Unless that name is already taken/trademarked, why change? Sounds like they're already bowing to the record company. But I guess ya gotta do what ya do.

They really bummed me out at the Castle Pub. First of all, they had to hire a drummer to fill in for "THE MANE" who was forced to stand in the soundbooth and watch the show because he wasn't 21 at the time. SECOND of all and the biggest dissappointment (<<<drunken spelling), what was up with Liz Halestorm's mom and the "spotlight"? She stood in the soundbooth with a regular car spotlight shining it in her daughter's face like she was some kind of deer or something. That bummed me out. :? Don't get me wrong. I like their songs and their show. I was shocked to see the mother pointing this thing in her face. I understand what she was trying to do "draw attention to her daughter". In "MY OPINION" that was not a professional thing to do. Lose the deer spotting light, your daughter ain't a deer.

From what I understand, the name Halestorm was already being used by another band under label contract, which wasn't an issue until they started looking at national exposure.

Haven't they changed their name a bunch of times already, but yet they go back to Halestorm?

Anyhoo, I have never seen them live, but I've heard their recordings and it's some top-notch stuff, very well produced, written, and executed.

I've seen Halestorm, even had the pleasure of sharing their stage, and let me tell you, if JP says they're better now than they were then, they must be fucking incredible now, because they were unbelievable before.

This is a front lady who knows what she's doing and her voice is unmatched as far as I'm concerned. I just hope they rememeber the "little people" if they make the jump to "famous."

I hope that all goes well for them. I heard the band on the backyard rocker one time and really enjoyed there music from the CD that was being played. Unfortunitlly my schedule never permited me to hear them live. so good luck hailstorm
