The Greatest Singer, or singers in Rock .. Your Opinion ?

I am wondering who you think is the greatest singer or singers in rock are ??

I would say, for me, it would be top three of:

Geoff Tate (Queensryche)
Don Dokken (Dokken)
Eric Adams (Manowar)

Who do you like ?? There are a lot of good ones out there, but these three stand out more ..

Paul Rodgers is the greatest natural male singer there was/is.
I have a metal background, as most would know, but noone compare.

Without a doubt... GEOFF TATE!!!

Low, high, and every point in between. If you need proof of that, just listen to their cover of Simon and Garfunkel's Scarbourough Fair. It's an extra track on the remastered edition of Empire. Before that it was a B side to Anybody Listening.

Queensryche is one of my favorites. I've seen them live many times, and he never disappoints. My first real concert was Metallica supporting ...And Justice For All with Queensryche opening. Eyes of a Stranger made its debut on the Headbanger's Ball that very weekend.

Yeah, I would say Bono is the great also. I also agree that Paul Rogers has a good voice, as well as Steve Perry and Lou Gramm .. There are so many t is hard to say the top ones ..

i have to agree with f.sciarrillo. Steve Perry . Loue Graham. and i would like to add Jon Bonjovi. Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades. and our own Victor Synn. as being some of the most impressive singers i have ever heard.

I totally agree with Tate and I love Cornell's voice. I think Sting's and the singer from Boston's voices are awesome too. My personnal favorites are James LaBrie from DT, Travis Meeks (sp) from DOTN, and Geddy of course.

I agree with the singers listed and I would like to add Ian Gillian of Deep Purple (who was also the voice of Jesus on the original Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack).

By the way, Paul Rodgers is now touring as the singer with Queen. Here is their song list from a show last week in Frankfurt, Germany.

I realize that we are talking about the rock world here, but my favorite singer ever is Kenny Rankin.

His voice is "pristine" in it's clarity, and his thoughtful delivery is beyond words.

Some pf my favorites have already been mentioned (Robert Plant, Bono, Paul Rodgers), but I also must include Freddie Mercury, Sammy Hagar, Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace - vocal theatrics that are hard to duplicate)and I know this isn't as rock, but Otis Redding cause the man is unequaled in shear soul in his voice

Geoff Tate and Chris Cornell without a doubt. Mike Patton is amazing. I've always been a fan of Corey Glover and Kelly Keagy also. The two artists that I really appreciate their voices and talents are Ray Charles and Elton John.................Im serious, stop laughing.

Nobody's listed any women so far, so here's one . . . Ann Wilson is one hell of a rock singer, especially on the early Heart stuff.

Rob Halford, Ian Astbury of the Cult.

A lot of my favorite singers have more of a low, smoky kind of voice: Elvis, Jim Morrison, Bowie, Richard Butler of Psychedelic Furs, etc.

Myles Kennedy, Chris Cornell, Freddy Mercury, Amy Lee

I say Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge just because of the sheer power behind his voice, and how he can hold a high note, and then make it higher and higher, a good example would be the track "Save Me" from the elektra soundtrack.

Elton John has always been a vocal inspiration for me.

You ask "singers," but "performers" is an entirely different topic. Diamond Dave has to be near the top of the list.

Whadaya think, people? Who're the best frontmen (or frontwomen) around? Locally and regionally, I'd have to personally give props to Chuck Budzina and Eric Klien (popShop, formerly LiQuid A).

Geoff Tate ( range is not an issue... as someone else said High/Low whew)
Bruce Dickinson ( powerful)
Geddy Lee (still great after 30+ years)
Sara Mclaughlin (... Not human but angel )
Norah Jones (beautiful beautiful voice)

I also like Chris Cornell although I will say that live he is nott as great as he would appear. My list could go on forever but these are my tops...
