I remember when we were jamming with john and kenny as acoustic fusion we were going to do some shows filling in for j&k and he said whats your bands name!? Acid Reflux. what!!?? no no no......you cant call it that thats horrible!! you have to change it!! thats the worst name i ever heard!!

It cant be worse than the butthole surfers!! or toad the wet sprocket!!!oh and englebert humperdink!!???

I hate to be a downer, but things will probably get worse before they get better.
The baby boomers are getting to their crotchety-complain-about-everything age, and filing an anonymous noise complaint with the PLCB is too easy. Someone probably has them on speed dial.

People like to complain; it makes them feel empowered.

I wish the biggest problem in my life was the little bit of noise that permeates every Saturday from the bar down the street.

It's time to do like Kyuss and throw our own concerts out in the desert. The only problem is there are no deserts around here, so we'll have to throw them in the woods. Yeah, our own concerts in the hills of Blair County: that would be the shiznitz.

Hey, I'm a crotchety old baby boomer, and I never complained about your rock and roll. I resent that remark.

Gimme some kick ass southern rock, blues, funk, whatever anyday. I've even mixed Hair Force One a time or two. But' I still like my "oldies" too!

Played a couple of tunes on my bass with Felixand the 'Canes last year on my birthday, too. What a night! HA.

I've not heard that yet... but you know what? Even if it was true and they decide to keep it a bar...how long before either PLCB shuts it down for noise (since that's a reoccuring theme) or the cops start doing what they were doing before...sitting and waiting to snag people coming out of there.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that they are trying to crack down on these peopel who are drunk driving...but when you pull over people who have had a beer and are DD for the eve...and give them an under partial influence ticket...how does that make a person want to dd again? I'm sorry, but I've seen alot of people give up their DD standing because they've not drank a thing and that cop would sit by the stop sign and follow them...pull them over and try to start shit (and they drank soda all night...)

That place is doomed. But I hope someone else took it..I miss hearing bands there.

Well, Esa, I agree with you in some ways. The fact of the matter is that this whole DUI 'thang has turned into a witch hunt, coupled with the fact that there are next to no entrapment laws in PA. Truth be told, the problem around here (Cambria and Blair) is nothing compared to other areas of the state, such as Allegheny and surrounding counties. Some of those areas RELY on DUI money.

Other states, like PA, had their nipples twisted by the MADD people some time ago. However, most of those other states (MD, VA, etc.) have loosened the reigns in a realization that they will make their tax paying citizens criminals if they keep at that rate. The bottom line: it has become a money making scheme for the state, counties, townships, and boroughs, with no regard to the future of these citizens. Sure, there are drunks out there that do deserve it, but I'd be willing to bet that a sampling of 10 people would give 8 that don't deserve it. If you take away DUIs, you take away a huge chunk of state and local government funding. In 2004 alone, the state of PA expunged more than 35,000 DUI cases. I'll apologize in advance if I have offended anyone who has lost a loved one due to drunk driving.

Even better, PA has abandoned that whole drinks/ weight chart that they passed out in schools. Dammed if you do? Some people on this board have argued back and forth in earlier threads in wondering if clubs and live music suffer from DUIs, and I wouldn't have to think twice about my answer.

How can a breathalyzer possibly measure a BLOOD Alcohol Concentration level, I ask? Forgive me for being so scientific and/ or systematic in my wondering.

I definatly Agree............... I don't believe that people with a blood alcohol level of.08 are out killing people, And I also think it should work in steps, maybe a small fine for .08, enough to make you stay alert and watch what you're doing but I don't think you should be nailed to the wall with a .08. Maybe a 2.0 alcohol level you should get hit but not .08.
