The area music scene was saddened to learn about the unexpected passing of Bedford-based musician Michael Clapper early Tuesday (April 12). He was 71. Mike - the brother of Jeff Clapper of Felix & the Hurricanes - was a prolific and enthusiastic songwriter who created many original songs with Chad Patterson in their band projects Kun-Tajus and Borrowed Time. Mike was a talented guitarist and sang with a strong, bold voice. Off stage, he was personable, upbeat and pleasant. I send my condolences to Mike's family and friends, including Jeff as well as Mike's daughters Sarah and Tammy.

Chrome Hog Saloon album at the Bedford Arts Center. The second photo shows Mike performing alongside his daughter, Sarah Mellott, who is now an established singer with the duo Happy Hour and the group Fully Loaded.
