Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the November 5 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.
When vehicular problems prevented our originally scheduled guests from being able to record their interview for this week's show, we went to Plan B this week, raiding the mailboxes! We checked out new recordings that have arrived in recent days, and debuted new tunes from Andy Mowatt's Steely Jam, Lemont, Pure Cane Sugar, Dan Stonerook, The Crooked Line, Stone Wicked Souls, Nothingmen, Nobody's Heroes and Pensive Fear! We also updated "Local Music News," broke out a 2002 song by Altoona's Ten Sent Wings from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback" (in memory of group member Eric Sager, see "Local Music News" below), stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song by Virginia bluegrassers the Hackensaw Boys, and reviewed Triple Dose's Brotherhood CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...
An area musician has returned to the area after some time away from the music scene. Cambria County-based country artist Adam Ernst had left area stages in February to explore a new career opportunity outside the area. He announced his return during the past week, as well as the reformation of his band, the Adam Ernst Band. Adam has announced several area shows through the rest of this year, including a solo show at The Grove in Belsano on November 25, and the return of the Adam Ernst Band at Woodside in Johnstown on December 9.
The second Punx for Pets fundraiser for the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society has been announced for early next month. The show will happen on Saturday, December 2 at The Anvil in Altoona, and will feature performances from the bands Samara, Dave Hates Everything, Deadside, Off the Top Rope, Such Fools and more. The show will start at 5 p.m., and is all ages. Donation at the door will be $10 per person, or $5 with the donation of goods for the Humane Society such as pet supplies, cat litter, select dog and cat foods, animal toys, pet dishes, collars, leashes and more.
And sad news struck the area music scene recently with the unexpected passing of Eric Sager on October 24. He had just turned 44 years old on October 6. A Hollidaysburg native and area musician who had relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah several years ago, Eric had been the bass player for popular Altoona-based punk rock band Ten Sent Wings, and was an established tattoo artist as well. We at the "Homegrown Rocker" express our sincerest condolences to Eric's family, friends and musical colleagues.
