HOMEGROWN ROCKER 10/2/16

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 2 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

New recordings were again the focus of this week's show, as we emptied the program's mailboxes to bring you a wide variety of new local and regional tunes! We debuted songs from Blossom Hollow, Beauty Slap, Steve Treado, Sherri Mullen, Nobody's Heroes, Jim Logrando & Sean Spollen, Nathan Peterson, Psycho Prophecy and Horehound! We also dug a 1995 number from northeastern PA rockers Teacher's Pet from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song by North Carolina's Randy McQuay.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

GAS STATION DISCO - "The Right Time"
RON GALLUCCI - "Strange Days"
BLOSSOM HOLLOW - "Read 'Em and Weep"
RHYNE McCORMICK - "Soul Dust"
BEAUTY SLAP - "Wopdewop"
DAVID UOSIKKINEN'S IN THE POCKET - "Backstabbers"
STEVE TREADO - "Windowpain"
BORROWED TIME - "Long, Dark Highway"
SHERRI MULLEN - "Rise"
NATASCHA & THE SPY BOYS - "He'll Do the Same Thing to You"
NOBODY'S HEROES - "The Bottle"

HOUR TWO:

NATE MYERS - "You Know"
NORMAN NARDINI - "I Seen Too Much"
JIM LOGRANDO & SEAN SPOLLEN - "Girl in Every Song"
CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Weird Angry Hard"
NATHAN PETERSON - "Dog Teeth"
TEACHER'S PET - "Homeless Monday" (1995, Local Music Flashback)
RANDY McQUAY - "Hit & Run" (Across State Lines)
FIGHTING FOR JAMES - "Perfect Life"
PSYCHO PROPHECY - "D.O.T.H. (Dead On The Horizon)"
FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT - "Something"
HOREHOUND - "Waking Time"

Next week, more new tunes! We will continue to share new arrivals from the program's mailboxes! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear a song from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band's Trinkets and Time Travelers CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 16 - Derek Woods Band
OCT. 30 - Halloween Special
NOV. 13 - Patched Together (preview)
