Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the June 12 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.
We again explored new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks on this week's show. We introduced new songs from Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band, Royal Benson, Hannah Bingman, Black Ridge, Wojo, Sourmash, Young Lungs, One Adam 12 and Fatality Risen. Along the way, updated "Local Music News," dug a 1987 song by Lewistown rockers Defiance from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a new song from New Jersey rockers Rahway, and reviewed Big Atlantic's Tempered CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Since next Sunday, June 19, is Father's Day, we follow "Homegrown Rocker" tradition and celebrate area music scene family traditions with our annual Father's Day Special! We will celebrate area music scene fathers, as well as mothers, sons, daughters and other family ties in the area music community! Several songs will feature two generations of family members! We'll feature at least one (and probably more) "Local Music Flashback" tunes, and step "Across State Lines" to hear some relocated area music natives with family ties in PA! We will also take some time toward the end of our first hour to remember central PA entertainment icon Dennie Huber, who sadly passed away on June 12 at age 60.
Upcoming guests and specials include:
JUNE 26 - Cover Song Special
JULY 3 - Ron Henry
JULY 17 - Native Alloys
AUG. 7 - Fast Forward Special
AUG. 14 - Small Town Horror Show
AUG. 21 - Shannon & the Merger
