HOMEGROWN ROCKER 5/1/16

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 1 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We again spotlighted the newest contents of the mailboxes, and explored more new recordings that have arrived at "Homegrown Rocker" headquarters in recent days. This week, we debuted new songs from The Wreckers, Post Season, Mike Rydock, Hot Jam Factory, Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band, Black Ridge, The Lampshades and Big Atlantic! Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," dug a 2000 song from Gauge from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to check out a tune from Fort Wayne, Indiana horror rockers The Lurking Corpses. And we presented not one, but two installments of "The Professor's CD Corner" - reviewing Jeff Mamett's Here's Your Hat CD during our first hour, and One Adam 12's Ear Worm CD in the second hour!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Keep On Rockin'"
DOUG IRWIN - "River Queen"
THE WRECKERS - "Best Days"
BRADLEY ALLEN FISHER - "Whisper at the Thunder"
POST SEASON - "Never Tell Me the Odds"
WALKNEY - "North"
MIKE RYDOCK - "Future Perfect Conjugation"
JEFF MAMETT - "Here's Your Hat"
HOT JAM FACTORY - "Bang!"
CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Lonely Cells"

HOUR TWO:

FLIGHT 19 - "Hands"
THE CLARKS - "Nothing Good Happens After Midnight"
BLACK RIDGE - "All My Weed Is Gone"
ONE ADAM 12 - "I Woke Up a Monster"
THE LAMPSHADES - "Gotta Do"
GAUGE - "Zoloft" (2000, Local Music Flashback)
THE LURKING CORPSES - "The Leech and the Worm" (Across State Lines)
AFTER THE FALL - "My Confession"

On our next program, we'll speak via phone with members from Pittsburgh-based alternative rockers The Daily Grind! We will get the latest scoop from the group, and discuss and hear tracks from their new album, I Did Those Things. Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Joe Newtz's Crossing Over CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

MAY 22 - Chip Jabs
MAY 29 - Memorial Day Special
JUNE 19 - Father's Day Special
JUNE 26 - Cover Song Special
