Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the April 24 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We introduced new songs from Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band, Royal Benson, Flower Garden, Surrounded By Ignorance, Roadside Funeral, The Hidden Agendas, Nightmares Of Eve, The Legendary Hucklebucks and Ember's Fall. We also updated "Local Music News," dug out a 2005 song by Harrisburg's Amy K & the Love Stomp Show from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a number from New York's Pralaya, and reviewed Hate Grenade's Pull the Pin CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Candlelight Red is returning to action after a two-year layoff. The Imagen Records recording group lineup of guitarist Jeremy Edge, singer Ryan Hoke, bassist Jamie Morral and drummer Brian Dugan has been rehearsing, and will return to stage action with several shows in the region in coming weeks. Candlelight Red will perform on Friday, May 20 at The Arena in State College, May 27 at Pellegrine's in Altoona, and May 28 at the Cell Block in Williamsport.
Former national recording group Green Jelly - famous for their 1992 MTV video hit "Three Little Pigs," released under their former name Green Jello - will perform on Saturday night, April 30 at Pellegrine's in Altoona as part of a day-long rock and metal fest. Billed as a birthday bash for Green Jelly singer Bill Manspeaker, the all-ages show begins at 1 p.m. and features a who's who of local and regional heavy-rocking talent. The bands Paradigm, Tread the Last, Klockwick, Black Sun, Threatpoint, Wrath of Typhon, One Step From Falling, Hate Grenade, It Is Written and Naildriver will perform before Green Jelly takes the stage at around 11:45 p.m., with Awaken From Ruin performing after Green Jelly's set. Local comedian Steve Kifer will perform some stand-up comedy between several bands' sets. Advance tickets for the show are $20, with day-of-show admission $25 per person. Tickets can be obtained through Eventbrite.com.
