Live music in the Philadelphia area faces a possible new hurdle. Philadelphia councilman Mark Squilla has proposed a new bill that would require all musicians, bookers and venues in the city to register to hold live music events. This includes national, international and local bands, solo musicians, DJ's and more to register and submit personal information to venue owners and promoters. It would also give city government and police the power to decide what entertainment happens within city limits.
Here is an article about the proposed bill:

As there is usually a large contingent of Philadelphia musicians in attendance at the annual Millennium Music Conference In Harrisburg, I expect this will be a pretty big topic of conversation at next month's conference.
And while this only affects Philadelphia at this point, if it is passed and gains traction, other cities and municipalities might follow suit, and it could even potentially spread to central PA in time.
(Ron, I can move this down to the "Law" section soon; but wanted the general Rockpage readership to be aware of it via the "General Discussion" area first.)
Register to Perform Music?
Here is another article I just read about that. What next?
