Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the September 13 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.
This week, we checked out more new recordings that have arrived in the "Homegrown Rocker" mailboxes in recent weeks. We debuted several new songs, including numbers from Black Cat Moan, John-Paul Peacefire, Habatat, Nick Stahlman, Alyssa Hankey, Strait & Miller, Duel, Badd Seed and Fist Fight in the Parking Lot. Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," dug a 1998 number by Fist from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song from Connecticut's Frank Viele. (Due to technical difficulties, there was no "Professor's CD Corner" feature this week.)

The band Subject to Change announced that they are moving forward in the aftermath of the recent death of their bassist and lead singer, John Van Horn, who died after an accident on August 3. John's brother, Ethan Van Horn, will now sing lead vocals and play guitar, and the group has added new bassist Jesse Hall. The group also plans to continue work on recording their new EP, and will be announcing new show dates soon.
A new opportunity has surfaced to help take local MS warrior Tim Surkovich's music and Multiple Sclerosis awareness effort, Project Diagnosis, to a national level. Tim recently contacted national producer/engineer Randy Staub, who has worked with Metallica, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Evanescence, Nickelback and Bon Jovi, and won countless awards in the music industry including Mixer/Engineer of the Year nine times in a row. Tim reached out to Randy to remix the song "Take Up the Fight" from Progmium's Project: Diagnosis CD. Randy has expressed interest, and Tim is accepting pledges to raise $3,000 to have the song remixed. Donations can be made to the Project: Diagnosis Foundation.
