HOMEGROWN ROCKER 8/16/15

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 16 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week we again emptied the "Homegrown Rocker" mailboxes to check out new recordings that have arrived during recent weeks. We debuted new music, including songs from Juke Left, The Syncopated Keys, Vitamin K, Mason Porter and Dirty Thieving Gypsies. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2000 number by The Cyclones from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback" (marking this week's fifth anniversary of the passing of the group's guitarist, Pittsburgh legend Glenn Pavone), stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Berkeley Springs, WV-based bluegrassers Bud's Collective, and reviewed Backyard Kings' The Weekend CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:
