Needed: Vehicle

Looking to purchase a vehicle as soon as possible. Prefer local in the Altoona area, as I am bumming rides and it gets difficult to go too far away. Seeking ideally a minivan or an SUV. Here's what I need:

No V8s. Must be able to pass inspection. Solid motor/tranny/exhaust, mileage is not that big of a deal. Don't care much how she looks as long as she safely and legally goes from point A to point B. Don't want something that will nickel and dime me to death.

INEXPENSIVE. Looking to purchase either straight out, payments from me to owner on a handshake, or on AoA. I can make monthly payments no more than $200 per month and that's pushing it. My credit is shot since my divorce, so no car lots are an option. Looking to only spend $500 - 1.5K total.

I don't need a 2012 Escalade. Just need a good, solid runner that can haul me and my gear and is a good daily driver.
