A few bass players did this a couple of times, was an absolute blast (I think some drummers did this at data music once too). I'm in but I don't have much to bring, I'd love to try out a few of Paul's bass goodies if he brings them.

The biggest factor for me is what day of the week and what time. I know the bass ones ran on a bit later than planned... I can't imagine how late one for guitarists will run

I'll gladly toss in some funds toward a decent location as the location, I feel, was critical to the success of the other gatherings.

Have you talked to any Altoona venues? You might have some luck at a place where a lot of musicians hang out, like McGarvey's or Pelle's.

While I wouldn't be opposed to some place like Pelly's and ultimately this is Mel's decision, I think some place a little more private might be more conducive to what we're looking to do. The bass get together that Rob mentioned above was done in the boiler room at SFU, and it worked very well for that. I've been racking my brain the past couple of weeks thinking of some place.

The upper room at The Woodside would be perfect. It's far enough away from the bar that customers wouldn't be bothered, yet close enough that the participants of the amp fest could get food and drinks. I've not yet given up completely on this venue.

The Woodside won't be free. Haven't gotten a quote on the price as of yet. IMHO this would be the ideal location because it's a bar and restaurant, which would allow folks to have drinks and food if they wanted.

There's a room in Altoona which requires a $75.00 deposit and a $90.00 rental fee. No food for sale and no alcohol permitted.
