A little Christmas instrumental tune for the season-2nd song

Post by old Skool »

Just recorded an instrumental tune for Christmas. My take on Deck the Halls. Check it out when you get a chance. Thanks!

Deckin' the Halls

Update 12/20/14- Added another tune "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", also available at link above.

Recorded on a Tascam DP-24 with an SM57. Guitar into 5153 into either Mesa 4x12 or 1x12 (both Vintage 30 loaded). Did one rhythm track with the Roadster but everything else was the EVH. Effects then added after using TC G-Force. Didn't have time to mess around with dif combinations or mic placements, just threw the mic up and jammed.

Sounds good, old sKool. We need to write an instrumental called "The Electric Horseman."
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

Thanks Dave & Paul aka Future Bobby! Actually should get you guys to play the bass lines on the tunes. Between you two and Scott you guys could write something way more interesting than I do ha ha. And Bobby as soon as I get my custom shop banjo from Charvel the "Electric Horseman" will become reality. Yeehaw!

A little Christmas instrumental tune for the season-2nd song

Post by old Skool »

Just recorded and posted another Christmas tune, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". It's available at the same link above as "Deckin' the Halls". Just a basic, simple little tune on the acoustic. Merry Christmas!

Nice! Beautiful rythem track. If I would have tried that, you would have heard 70 "punch-ins". You play so well.

Thanks! Wish I could say that I nailed everything on the first take, or the second, or sometimes the third, or well you get the idea. Usually instead of punch-ins I just redo the track. Seems to capture the feel & flow better for me. Plus since I'm not paying for studio time I can spend all night if I have to ha ha! Appreciate the comments.
