Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the October 5 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com). The show can also be streamed via either Rocky website, www.rocky1049.com or www.rocky99.com.
Thanks to our guests this week, Chad Patterson and Mike Clapper of Bedford-based rock group Borrowed Time (www.myborrowedtime.com)! Chad and Mike enlightened us about Borrowed Time and its story, and we heard tracks from their latest CD, Long, Dark Highway. And both musicians brought guitars and played several songs live! With Chad in the studio, we dug deep – back to 1975 – for a song by Chad and Windflower for this week’s “Local Music Flashback!” Along the way, we debuted new songs from Kenton Sitch, Jason McIntyre & Junior Tutwiler and Gashouse Annie; we also updated “Local Music News,” and reviewed the Sterling Koch Trio’s Place Your Bets CD in this week’s “Professor’s CD Corner!”

In Local Music News…
A special benefit concert is coming together to help out an area family who lost their possessions in a recent house fire. The “Ava’s Home Benefit Concert” will take place on Friday night, October 17 at 9 p.m. at McGarvey’s in Altoona, and will raise money for the Callaway family – Austin, Taylor and Ava Rose – who lost their home to fire in July. Bands donating their talents that night will include Half Tempted, Ganister and 7th Gear. There will also be door prizes and drawings. Donation at the door that night will be $6 per person.
Another benefit concert is being assembled to help out an area musician recovering from a medical procedure. Former Stept On and Bad Daze drummer Jim Bagrosky recently underwent corrective surgery on his spinal cord and neck, and will be unable to work while he recovers from that procedure. The music community will come together to raise funds to help with medical expenses during “Jam for Jim,” taking place on Friday night, November 21 at 30 Something in Altoona. The night will feature performances from David Plisco and Matt Day, along with the groups Hate Grenade, Serious Jones, Moose Panic and Big Bear Chase Me. There will also be a silent auction. Donation at the door will be $8 per person.
