Consider yourself lucky if you get half of what you're asking.

Wow... They definitely don't hold their value then. I might as well keep it at that price.

Used market sucks right now. Doesn't help that you have a pretty common amp either. I've seen them go for $800.00 and the cabs for a little over $300.00

i agree.. and they will just go down in price yearly. then bottom out. 3 years ago used ones went for 1200 or so. The economy is very bad still and musicians typically have no extra money. I good guitar friend of mine won 50,000 in the lottery and I asked him what he is going to do with it. He said he will keep playing in the band until it runs out.

I wonder if the market will ever go back up. It's so over saturated with a thousand boutique brands fighting it out for the 1% of musicians who can afford them. And ludicrously overpriced vintage gear.

Honest opinion? If you aren't playing it, take the hit and sell it unless you want it as a backup. The cash is a safer investment than a dusty half stack. And easier to store. :D

And it's even worse when it's both a boutique amp and it's vintage. If you go to some Third World country to sell a kidney and then hit the lottery, you may be able to score that Dumble or Trainwreck. Many of the boutique amps do sound incredible, but there comes a time when the law of diminishing returns kicks in and no amount of vintage or point-to-point mojo can justify the cost.

I do remember when a Dual or Triple Rec could still command $2k on the used market. But Rectifiers were pretty much the JCM800 of the late 90s to mid-2000s, so there are a ton of them out there. They're still great amps, but they don't sell for the prices they used to. Now if you had a Mark IIC, you could get a nice price for that.
