R. I. P. David Gracey

I lost a long time friend Saturday, January 4, 2014. Dave Gracey, drummer, maintenance supervisor at Altoona Regional Health System, contractor, and one of the best guys I have ever had the pleasure of knowing died at UPMC Pittsburgh following a brief illness. We first met as teenagers in the '60s, playing in various rock bands.

We had lost touch for a time, then reconnected in the mid 80s when he walked in to a night school class at Altoona Career and Technology Center and found that I was the instructor. Since then, we worked together on many projects and renewed a strong friendship. He had a vast area of knowledge on electrical systems, heating, cooling and refrigeration, machine shop, and welding, among others. We frequently would call each other for opinions or advice on solving a technical problem. He will be dearly remembered and missed by many.

WOW ! First I heard of this. Damn ! I played with Dave in Freebird back in the late 80's. He was a great drummer and a great guy all around. I had spine surgery on the 6th so I have missed all of this news.
Very sad news.
