Gary was a nice guy. I am saddened to hear this.

I met Gary for the first time at the EOS Jam this year, one of the kindest folks there.

I've only ever talked to him on here, never got to meet him in person. I'm sorry to hear it, though, that's awful. I'm very sorry that you lost your best friend of so many years.

That breaks my heart! He was not that old, this is an epidemic among middle aged men.. I have klnown Gary for years and he will be missed. Last thing we did together was sound for the shows at Edolyn Terrace. My deepest condolences and sympathy to his family and friends.

Shocked.

I actually learned about this right before starting work last night. I've met many people during the days I used to play, and thanks to mutual friends, I was graced with meeting him. Gary knew his instruments, and I'm sure he met quite many people through that knowledge. His will to help people certainly didn't hinder that either. The last time I talked with him, his father wasn't doing well, and even though it wasn't looking well, I was trying to at least cheer him up a bit, give him some hope. Weird how things work sometimes. I didn't know him very well, but for what I got to know about him, I'm certain he'll be missed, and with a great capacity. RIP Gary Leighty :(

For those of you who may not have known, Gary is my uncle. I wanted you to know that your words mean a lot. I'll pass your condolences on to the rest of our family as well.

We (The Backyard Rockers) learned of Gary's passing right before band practice on Monday night. We considered Gary the unofficial "fourth" Backyard Rocker; he helped and supported us from the get-go, with instruments, gear, helping roadie for us, and sitting in on guitar. He always liked to play Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" with us, so we are now dedicating that song in his memory when we perform it.

Gary was a frequent flyer at Pellegrine's Wednesday Jam Night, and would often perform his new original instrumental compositions with digital accompaniment. He always liked to create, and find like-minded musicians to jam with.

I met and first got to know Gary when he was running sound for the all-ages AnEmergencyScene shows at Jaggard and the Eldolyn Terrace, also at the outdoor customer appreciation shows Ace's Music used to do.

Gary also had a talent for woodworking. He posted pictures on Facebook of some wooden cannons he recently crafted for his father.

My bandmates and I will miss him. And every time I play my bongos (which he sold to me), I'll think of Gary. Good guy, taken too soon.

I don't think there is one tonight due to the holiday. I think they resume next Wednesday.
