HOMEGROWN ROCKER 7/28/13 (CHRIS RATTIE)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 28 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Thanks to this week’s guest, State College-based singer, songwriter and music scene veteran Chris Rattie! Rich told us his story and updated us on his career happenings, including his forthcoming new solo CD and his new band project to promote that CD, the Brush Valley Rumblers! We heard songs from the forthcoming disc, and Rich brought his guitar and did three songs live! Along the way, we debuted new songs from The Good Seeds, OverheaD, The House Band (western PA) and Steve Brosky, updated “Local Music News,” dug a 2001 song by State College’s Sona from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and reviewed Treehouse’s Salt Upon the Stones CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

DAVE DISTEFANO – “Light the Fya Get Down”
TED McCLOSKEY – “Just Want to Disappear”
CHRIS RATTIE – “So Long”
THE GOOD SEEDS – “East of Freedom”
CHRIS RATTIE – “The Way It’s Gotta Be” (performed live on the air)
OVERHEAD – “Midnight Sun”
CHRIS RATTIE – “Hotel by the Highway”
NORMAN NARDINI – “I Seen Too Much”

HOUR TWO:

MILEUNDER – “Nemo”
THE LAMPSHADES – “Scotland”
CHRIS RATTIE – “Burn ‘Em Down” (performed live on the air)
TREEHOUSE – “Carousel”
CHRIS RATTIE – “Prisoner 743” (performed live on the air)
SONA – “Birdsong” (2001, Local Music Flashback)
CHRIS RATTIE – “Feelin’ Bad”
THE HOUSE BAND (western PA) – “Landing Field”
STEVE BROSKY – “My Coupe Deville”

On our next program, we will try something a little bit different. In our quest to examine the remote corners of the area music scene’s creativity, we introduce the first-ever “The Long and Short of It Special!” The premise is that we pair some of the shortest songs the area music scene has to offer with some of the longest. We promise we will set a record for the longest song ever played on the show so far! And we might also set the record for the shortest! We promise local music scene epics and quick hitters on “The Long and Short of It Special” edition of the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

AUG. 18 – THE LAMPSHADES
AUG. 25 – ALL REQUEST SPECIAL
SEPT. 1 – COVER SONG SPECIAL
SEPT. 8 – MATT OTIS
SEPT. 15 – LIES, INC
