The show will go on!
Hey everyone, this is not an easy announcement, but here it goes…
I was arrested in February 2012 for cultivating 66 pot plants in my basement. After a year and a half of court dates I finally signed a plea deal. On July 17th at noon I begin serving 2-10 years in a Pennsylvania State Prison. They say I can get out as early as 18 months for good behavior. I’ve never been in trouble before but because of Mandatory Minimum sentencing this is the penalty I am receiving.
My last show (until I get out) with Mysterytrain is Friday July 12 at Summer Jam at Kempton Music Center. My last Raggedy Hobo acoustic solo show is Wednesday July 10 at Shaw’s Bar Juniata.
The shows will go on!!! Mysterytrain will continue on and will be playing shows, festivals and still hosting our own events. Camp Mysterytrain will be in full swing everywhere they play as well. Lots of ideas are being tossed around on what to expect during my absence. Along with playing as a 4 piece band you can expect guest musicians, expanded drum segments with many friends joining in and other cool stuff.
We are approaching our 5 year anniversary of the band. Your support over the years has been unbelievable! So many wonderful memories and crazy weekends we have shared together. The band, the crew and our close Mt family members have assured me that they will do whatever it takes to keep the spirit of “this thing of ours” alive.
This is it in a nutshell. More details are coming soon.

Tough break, I don't smoke but think it should be legal. I draw a pretty hard line after that on the harder shit. Unfortunatly it is illegal and now ya just gotta suck it up, do your time and move on afterwards. Wish ya the best.
Hope ya have a couple good shows and some good support for your sendoff.

I didn't even know you could do that, I say all the RP supporters start a fund!KeithReynolds wrote:Horrible. Such stupid laws and penalties in this fucking country.
When will you get your ID number? Let me know and I will put some $ on your books to help you get through.
Im sure I could find some other supporters of the cause too.

I just want to say that this is absolute bullshit and you have my deepest sympathies, sir. Broken fucking legal system, or what? I wish you a speedy time served and an easy time at that.
And Keith...I'll contribute to the "Help Dan" fund. =)

Thanks
Hey everyone, thank you so much for the encouraging words and support. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any money raised will be going straight to my kids and paying the house payments until I get out.
I always have and still believe this town has a lot to offer but these laws on cannabis are just so wrong. Especially when hard drug sales and use and perscription drug addiction is crushing our area.
Anyway, thank you in advance for your support. Once I get out, if there is ever anything I can do to repay y'all just say the word.

Absolutely right. I'm still trying to figure out how prescription drugs and alcohol have a better standing than marijuana, and I don't even smoke it! I'm all for having a few drinks, but I know so many people that get absolutely wall-smashingly plastered, and believe me, if they were simply smoking some, they'd be a LOT better off. That's a tough break dude. Go do the time, get through it all, and get back out. It's just weird how some things go, and this situation is definitely one of them. You're going to jail for 2-10, and yet there are true criminals getting a few months a piece??? Yeah, our legal system is just fine...

Farewell
So, here's the last post from me directly for a little while. I cannot express how much I'm gonna miss you all and our whole scene. I am grateful for all of your support especially over the last month. I have received so much positive feedback to carry with me and I will certainly let you know how and when I can send and receive mail.
I guess there's just two things before I go...
Jason, Jacob and a few others will occasionally be posting on my facebook page on upcoming events and also how things are going with me. Please feel free to comment and post on there too.
Jacob and I are in the process of setting up a PayPal link on www.mysterytrainlive.net for contributions to my wife and kids and their well-being. It's her own account for her to access and release funds to her personal bank account. Along with PayPal there are also raffles and items to buy at our upcoming shows. Really nice stuff that vendors have donated to the cause. Words cannot describe how thankful I am for any donations.
Not sure how to end this except... Farewell but not forever folks,
DanK.
