HOMEGROWN ROCKER 5/26/13 (MEMORIAL DAY SPECIAL)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 26 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

We honored Memorial Day tradition this week, by presenting our most popular show every year, the Memorial Day Special! For two hours, we traversed Local Music Memory Lane, hearing songs from past bands and artists of the area music scene! For the first 90 minutes, we heard numerous recordings from the local music archives, some going back to the 1960s! In the show’s last 30 minutes, we paid homage to some of the fallen musicians of the area music scene, including David Cherry, who just passed away last weekend. We hope you enjoyed this year’s set of local music memories, and remember that we celebrate area music scene past every week with the “Local Music Flashback,” and we also will revisit Local Music Memory Lane during Thanksgiving weekend in late November!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

BACK STREET BOYZ – “We Like to Dance” (1987)
