Hooking a board up to the computer to record advice?

Post by f.sciarrillo »

I currently record the sermons and other audio events at my church. We are using a 24 channel board that runs from the tape out (Y adapter) to the mic input of the computer and use Audacity to record.

The problem I am finding is that there is a lot of high decibel humming when I play back the audio. I use Adoba Audition to remove the hum, but then it adds a lot of squelching to the track.

So what I am thinking about doing is getting a USB interface to hook the board up to and then run to the computer from that.

The map would look like this: Board -> Usb Interface -> Computer.

What I would like to know is what kind would be good, and will using it get rid of the high decibel humming?

I was looking at a Lexicon Alpha, but am not sure that will work?

Yes, Lexicon Alpha would be a good choice for what you want. It has usable bundled software too.

A cheaper, simpler alternative that has good reviews would be a Behringer:
