kBand seeks guitarist

Altoona-based working band with established fan base seeking lead (well, really any) guitarist for fill-in or possible permanent position.

Here's what we offer:

1) A casual, supportive, and professional group of studied and experienced musicians.
We're a bad-ass rhythm section who has honed the ability to make almost anyone sound good.

2) Fun. And lots of it.

3) Paying gigs. Our time and efforts are valuable to us, as are yours.

Here's what we need:

1) Willingness to play ANYTHING. And we mean anything. A sense of humor is, in many ways, more important to our act than musical ability.

2) Strong understanding of music theory with ability to read chord charts and improvise leads.

3) Ability to sing at least some backup.

About the band:
kBand has been playing Altoona area for nearly 3 years. We've developed a very loyal following of people who like to create live music with us, most of whom are simply fantastic. We've also become fairly adept at improvising a diverse selection of material on a moments notice, and keeping even the most 'challenging' of singers on-track. We generally function on a "hand grenades" philosophy: we do not try to accurately replicate every nuance of the material we perform, we prefer to make it our own and simply get "close enough". On the other hand, we're frickin' amazing.

These guys are real pros. But you need to be able to have fun. They are very well versed in laughter. I love working with them. It might have something to do with their overwhelming stage volume.

By the way, Jason, what the hell is up with that email address? I think typing that would be harder than playing your entire library. Might take longer too...

Just to be clear: no one has left the band, no one's getting kicked out, we're not breaking up. We share a guitarist with another group who is enjoying great success lately. (BTW, check out Mama Corn) In the interest of maintaining kBand's booking availability, we want to see if anybody is both willing and able to cover the position. We're very much alive and well and will continue to deliver the smooth, delicious k that you've come to expect from us.
