What in the hell?!?!?!

Post by Banned »

I was flippin through channels trying to find something to fall back asleep to this morning when, as luck would have it, my remote died on CMT. Deciding my lack of energy was greater than my dislike of country music I left it on for a while.

A video came on (didn't pay attention to who it was or the name of the song) by a female singer where they were headbanging!!!! Headbanging in a country video??? Laying there confused a couple of songs later a video came on where they had what apeared to be the hillbilly version of a mosh pit. Instead of slamming into each other they were jumping around and they'd kick each others boots together. The final straw came a couple of songs later when if i'd of have had the mute on, and it weren't for the shots of the band with their fiddles and cowboy hats, you would have thought it was a rap video. The singer walkin around with gold chains and diamond rings, a shot of a couple of escallades with the big spinner rims.

What in the hell is up with all that?

That's funny as shit. A good friend of mine always talks about the difference between 80's rock/metal headbanging (when he was in High School) and 90's rock/metal headbanging (when I was in high school). Makes me laugh every time with his demonstrations

80's....(w/ the exception of Metallica...he always puts in)

Headbanged mostly in a spread leg stance, guitar in front, shifting weight from each foot. Squared off to the camera.

90's........

Fretting shoulder facing the camera. Weight on front knee. Banging head w/ guitar off to the side.

I must have had some kind of strange voodoo curse placed on me as today while watching CSI on spike tv i accedently hit the channel up button instead of the volume. There was a video on that was accually a country rap song. I believe the guys name was Cowboy Troy, the song was "I play chicken with a train". Caught in one of those "car crash can't look away" type of things, I watched the video. After it was over the VJ came on and said that as a member of the "country music mafia" he was pioneering what they call "hick-hop". Caught somewhere between laughing my ass off and wanting to puke my guts out, I promptly blocked CMT from my channel list.

A lot of people are calling us a "country" band-until they hear us- Americana is what we like to call it, But if we were a country band I sure wouldn't want to be associated with the "country" CRAP on tv nowdays. Hank Sr. is probably turning in his grave.

But with a name like Blind Johnny Death and The Hellbound Hayride...it has to be good!

Perhaps they are just "broadening their horizons"? Hell...we would have never gotten grunge metal if we didn't start first with disco...
