HOMEGROWN ROCKER 3/17/13 (ST. PADDY'S DAY SPECIAL)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 17 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Since this week’s show coincided with St. Patrick’s Day, it was obvious what we needed to do this week – throw our own St. Patrick’s Day party! We presented the annual St. Paddy’s Day Special, featuring two hours of Irish-themed music from the area music scene! We featured Celtic rock and folk, both reverent and irreverent, as well as original Irish-themed compositions, renditions of traditional folk and pub songs, and more! The area music scene “got its Irish up” this week!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

KILMAINE SAINTS – “Amazing Grace/The Saints Are Up!”
KILMAINE SAINTS – “Gold and Guns (Will Get the Job Done)”
FULL KILT – “Fat Bottom Girls”
FULL KILT – “Johnson’s Motor Car”
FULL KILT – “Free Bird”
JERRY BURSKEY – “Liver Full of Liquor”
LOOK LEFT – “Frank Jaggerty”
CEANN – “Pittsburgh Makes Me Drunk”
CEANN – “Moron with the Bodhran”
CORNED BEEF AND CURRY – “Steelers Rock, Steelers Roll”
MISCHIEF BREW – “A Liquor Never Brewed”

HOUR TWO:

THE CLOVER – “Kiss Me I’m Irish Today”
WINE OF NAILS – “The Blight of the Emerald Isle”
TREE THE BAND – “Whiskey You’re the Devil”
TREE THE BAND – “Foggy Dew”
TREE THE BAND – “Drunken Sailor”
ASHES FOR TREES – “Beagan agus a ra go maith”
THE IRISH RATTLERS – “Dear Boss” (2004, Local Music Flashback)
MICHAEL O’BRIAN BAND – “Whiskey in the Jar”
MICHAEL O’BRIAN BAND – “Clancy”
MICHAEL O’BRIAN BAND – “Unicorn Song”
CORMORANT’S FANCY – “Star of the County Down”
DEAD IRISH BLUES – “Roddy McCorley”
SEASONS – “Drowsy Maggie/Johnny’s Gone to France”
THE LOWLANDER HIGHLANDERS – “St. Patrick’s Day”

On our next program, we will be joined by members of Carlisle-based studio project Mileunder! We’ll get acquainted with the project and the band members’ vision, hear music from their forthcoming CD, and find out how you can help Mileunder complete their CD! We’ll also update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for another “Local Music Flashback,” and review 7th Layer’s The Rise of Abaddon CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Learn about Mileunder on the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

And the “Homegrown Rocker” is available for digital download off either Rocky website after each and every show. Just check on either (www.rocky1049.com) or (www.rocky99.com) and download your copy of the show! If you live beyond the signal range of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99, you can now download west-central PA’s longest-running local music show!
