Hesston Speedway Concert

Post by BigJohn »

Last spring My Sister and Brother-in-Law bought Hesston Speedway, after getting a year of experience under our belts, We can know look to do other thing with this venue. We have stock car racing every Saturday, but Sunday thru Friday this place is empty. The front straight away grand stands will seat about two thousand people and is set up that you can't see in unless you pay admission, you could park a flatbet on the straight away and put folding chairs in front of it to boost seating to maybe three thousand. I would like some ideas for events at this venue.

Rockpage Superjam! Everybody, all weekend long! Seriously, Labor Day would be an excellent time to stage a big show there, I was born & raised in that area, and the campsites are packed with people looking to party... locals always look for something to do after the Huntingdon County Fair a few weeks before... evenings get cool and rain is always a possibility, but a little risk equals a lot of gate proceeds. You could promote heavily at the Fair. Hard rock would work. Classic rock would go as well as country. It ain't Altoona. Think redneck (and damn proud of it!).---->JMS

CYPHIN

If you get anything going keep me posted CYPHIN would be interested in doing a show out there. I think it would be cool to get a few bands out there and make a day of it. Like an all age show. Alot off people around the Huntingdon area would be happy to have something like that around here. That would give the younger kids something to look forward to.

CYPHIN is from the Huntingdon area as well and something like that would be great for around this area. If anyone needs help promoting anything I would be more than happy to help. Jason/CYPHIN

Hopefully that there is enough power for a decent light and sound system. Depending on the size of the stage, 100 amp would be the bare minimum. If there is power, how far away from the stage is it? If possible, two flatbeds back to back, (not end to end) would work better. Eight feet is barely deep enough for any band with a drummer. Sounds like it would be a good time, though.

The neighbors complain about the races and you think they'll be ok with a rock show? I can hear them now......

Shows at Hesston would kick some serious ass! The seating capacity is enormous and as Big John said, the neighbors out there bitch mostly about the dust.

I'd be very much in to jammin' out there for a home town crowd. I think a rock show would go together with the races and the crowds out there.

Come to think of it, I think I'll give Ryan a call.

I am from the Mount Union, Huntingdon area but i live in Altoona right now. There is never any thing for people in those areas to do , but to plan their own private partys. Since the bar Ajays on fair grounds road is not in full swing any more this would be a good thing for that area.

:D Hey!!! Maybe we could grab some instruments and have a race around the track!!! Could hear it now ,,,"And in the "lead" is 4 guitars screamin into turn 4...followed closely by a rythumic pack...several vocalist are battling it out for spots .....and if it wouldn't be for settin up and having to carry all that #@%*...the drummers mighta stood a better chance!!"...

Am from the area too and this sounds like a great thing for the area too (not the musical race... lol) This area needs more things like this going on ...and hey SUMMERS comming and thats close to Raystown!!
