HOMEGROWN ROCKER 1/13/13 (A CRUCIFYING FEELING)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the January 13 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Thanks to our first guests of 2013 via phone, Paris Kalamaras and Jeff Steinmetz of Philadelphia-based modern rockers A Crucifying Feeling (http://acfmusic.net/). We got reacquainted with the band and learned their story, and heard tracks from their CD From Dust to Life. Along the way, we debuted new songs from Wine Of Nails and Ninetail, updated “Local Music News,” stepped “Across State Lines” to hear music from Boston rockers Silent Season, dug a 1986 song by State College’s The Seen from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and reviewed Synesthesia’s Synners & Saints CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” And if that wasn’t enough, we also gave away pairs of tickets to the Mishler Bands Together for Charity event, a multi-band fundraiser for the St. Vincent DePaul Food for Families Soup Kitchen that happens Jan. 19 at Altoona’s historic Mishler Theatre. Wow, what a week!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE SITCH – “Goblin Zeppelin”
LIES, INC. – “Invertigo”
A CRUCIFYING FEELING – “Faking Bliss”
WINE OF NAILS – “The Blight of the Emerald Isle”
A CRUCIFYING FEELING – “The Pumpkin Method”
JONAH WHALE – “My Friends”
A CRUCIFYING FEELING – “Strapped”
VICE VERSA – “Chaotic Stability”
SILENT SEASON – “Prisoner” (Across State Lines)

HOUR TWO:

LEADFOOT – “Hell”
FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT – “Something”
A CRUCIFYING FEELING – “Mature Sunflower”
SYNESTHESIA – “True Believers”
A CRUCIFYING FEELING – “Unhappy”
THE SEEN – “Younger Than Yesterday” (1986, Local Music Flashback)
A CRUCIFYING FEELING – “Warfarin’”
NINETAIL – “Waterloo”
GIORNESTO – “Righteous Due”

On our next program, we welcome the return of Cambria County progressive/fusion adventurers Wine Of Nails! We will get reacquainted with the band members and their mission, and get the scoop on their brand new CD, Wonk Thyself!. We will also update “Local Music News,” dig a song from the archive for another “Local Music Flashback,” and review Look Left’s Bite the Green Apple CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Wine Of Nails visits the “Homegrown Rocker” next Sunday night!
