Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 16 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Steelers football season on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Thanks to our guests this week, Eric McCrum and Trey Carruthers of Altoona pop/punk rockers The Hope Fallacy (https://www.facebook.com/thehopefallacy). Eric and Trey updated us on the latest Hope Fallacy happenings, and we heard tracks from their 2010 EP Bringin’ It Home! Along the way, we debuted new Christmas tunes from Kenny Murdick, The Singles and Fist Fight in the Parking Lot; as well as a new song from The Sitch. We also updated “Local Music News,” dug into the archive for a 2001 song by Fear Love and Hate, and reviewed Seven2Ten’s On Parole CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

In Local Music News…

In a surprising development, one of the area’s most promising rising young bands has suddenly called it quits. Rain Must Fall announced that they are disbanding, citing professional differences. Several band members do plan to collaborate together on a future project or projects. Rain Must Fall had steadily built a sizable fan base in the region, and was recently one of three finalists in the “favorite area band” category in the Altoona Mirror’s “Hometown Favorites” Awards.

Pittsburgh singer/songwriter Bill Deasy continues work on his next recording, called Start Again. Deasy is collaborating with Chris Parker in the creation of that album. Deasy is also working on a screenplay for his first novel, Ransom Seaborn.

And Pittsburgh’s Fist Fight in the Parking Lot has recorded a new song for the holiday season. They have made the song, their rendition of “Please Come Home for Christmas,” available for a name-your-price download on their website, www.fistfightintheparkinglot.com.
