I have a Ibanez SR300 Paul, it is DI strait to the board. It is a budget bass, but it will hold me over till I can get my Carvin SB5000 :)

I was looking at at Kreuger MicroBass MB150E combo. It is a 150 watt and an Ampeg BA115HP Combo (It has casters so I can move it out of the way fairly easily) today. The ampeg is more wattage and cost less than the krueger.

I used to have a G-K 700RB-II and absolutely loved it. That head was affordable, had a very full tone, and had more than enough power for almost any cab one would need. But, I always said there was 1 amp I would sell a G-K for: Mesa M-2000. When Moondoggy offered to sell me his, the G-K was on it's way out. And at an unbelievable price! (Thanks again, Dan)

The new Mesa's are good, but they lack something(to my ear) that the older ones had. I consider myself in good company with Bushy and Paul rockin' the older ones.

Finally got the Mesa DI fixed. Sarge sounded impressed with the damage done to the original circuitry. I think the word "vaporized" was in there somewhere. He hooked me up with the new circuits, so hopefully, I won't have any problems for quite a while.

Indeed, Steve! I am curious about the age of my 400+. I've been wanting to call Mesa with the serial number and find out when it was built.

This past spring, I actually had an opportunity to knab a cherry Buster head at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, I was just a little slow on the draw with that one. Around that time, I also had an opportunity to score a /13 TBL200, but I decided to walk due to the fact that it would have taken quite a while to pay for itself (and if it weren't my thing, there was no way I was flipping something like that around here  ). I'm kind of kicking myself on that one right now, though, because it would be perfect for my current gig. But ya know, bounded rationality and all.

I've been using an SWR sm900 for about 6 years (pre fender) only had
to replace a tube once. For speakers, i have a Goliath III. I keep a
Peavey tour series 700 in case the other ever breaks down. so far, so
good

Cherry means in really nice shape, such as "Man, check out that cherry Chevelle going down the road!" Busters were a series of tube bass amps that Mesa put out. Mesa's main tube bass amps were rack-mounts - the D180, Bass 400, and Bass 400+. The Buster was a 200 watt amp that came in a non-rackable head version, as well as 1x15 and 2x10 combo versions. Mesa's actually coming out with two new tube bass amps. The front-ends are the same as the Carbine series.

SWR used to be owned by Steve Rabe, but now they're owned by Fender. SWR was one of the first "modern" bass amp companies that made hifi sounding bass gear. The Goliath III is probably one of the most popular 4x10s ever made.

Actually, speaking of Mesa bass amps...the 400+ has an interesting history. It actually came about as a way of circumventing a power tube shortage. Mesa built the 400 around 6550s. When Mesa's cheap Chinese supply of 6550s went bust, they started shipping the 400 with 6L6s. 6L6s have about half the output of 6550s, so they just ended up building an amp with 12 6L6s in the power section; thus the 400+ was born.
