Can anyone give me some deatils about the open mic night at Pellys? I'm a drummer & want to play. Is there a kit there? Should I bring my edrums? I have a guitar & bass player that would like to play too. Is there any type of a schedule or just show up & wait until a spot opens up? Sorry about all of the questions. I'd like to play but wanted an idea of what I was getting into.
Thanks! Rick.
There is an old set of decent sounding Ludwig's there. One ride cymbal with stand and hi-hat with low end hi hats. Someone needs to set it up and tear it down. Bring extra cymbals and stands if you like. You can also set up your own kit if you'd like.
Generally people take turns. Sometimes a band whats to do two or three songs by themselves. Loosely run and lots of fun.
How things run depends on who, and how many show up.
Thanks for the insight. I'll try to stop in tonight. It sounds likea good time! Is there a sound system to plug into or should guitar players bring an amp?
Seek out Adam D when you arrive at Pelly's, he is the one who coordinates it all. He'll slot you in to perform and give you the chance to do a few songs. It's pretty loose and friendly, and often goes between solo performers, bands and jam sessions depending on who shows up in a given week.
I finally got there last night and I'm glad that I went. I had a blast. Loads of talented people making great music together. Thanks to Adam for keeping things running smoothly & making me feel welcome & for the "1st time player" beer. I'll be back again.
