JOHNSTOWN — PUNIAK – Andrew C., 59, Brownstown, died Oct. 10, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 21, 1953, son of Margaret (Kuhar) Burkhart. Preceded in death by his adopted parents, Charles and Mary (Laco) Puniak. Survived by his loving wife, Stephany Oleksa-Puniak; daughter, Tobie Gunby; brother, David Burkhart; sister, Joan (Robert) Ondick; nephew, Zachary Burkhart; mother- and father-in-law; Helen and Steve Oleksa, who Andrew referred to as mom and dad; sister-in-law, Vanessa Flowers; and brother-in-law, Larry (Karen) Oleksa. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and his cats, Muff and Stretch. Andrew was a member of St. Michael Church, Brownstown. He was a bass player in numerous bands throughout his life, including FM, High Mileage, Hangman, Satrycon, Myst, Krave and Wild & Blue. He also played as the opening act for Tracy Lawrence, Dan Seals, Kenny Chesney and Pam Tillis. He also released an album “It’s About Time.” He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 710 Broad St., where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Church, Franciscan Friars, OFM, Conv. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to the family at ozogfh.com.
