Stolen Guitar

Post by byndrsn »

Hey Folks, I'm hoping you all can keep an eye out for me.

I just purchased an Ibanez AX1220 guitar. Got to practice with it once and then someone stole it out of my garage. What is strange is there was also a Kramer there and a Fender Acoustic with a built in pickup - all three were in cases, yet they just grabbed the Ibanez and - you're not going to believe this - our gas can. WTF!!

Anyway, the body of the guitar is black, although it has a finish to make it look like leather. I'd post a picture on here, but I don't know how to do that.

What sucks is - even if I had the money to go out and purchase it again (which I don't) I couldn't anyway. It is a discountinued model, I think I must have gotten the last one that MusiciansFriend had.

So, if you hear anything or whatever, I'd appreciate a heads up. I feel pretty certain though that I will never see it again.

Thanks Everyone!!!

Tom, I'm very sorry to hear about your stolen guitar. It probaly went up someone's nose or something.

I would suggest keeping an eye on ebay and making phone calls to a few of the local pawnshops (Crazy Hazy's, etc.). Do you have the serial number?

P.s. To post a picture you need to upload it to another site and then direct link to it. Or you could just upload it to a website and post the URL.

Here's the pictures and stuff for it.. helping him out since I know he didn't have much time tonight... ya know.. they're playing a gig.. ::sighs::

It's an Ibanez AX1220 Electric Guitar

A rough and rowdy leather-clad rocker.
Leather-like textured finish makes the grade whether you're into gory goth, manic metal, or badass biker bars. Double-cut sculpted body design gives free access to 22 jumbo frets on a bound rosewood fingerboard. 3-piece maple AX prestige neck plays fast and furious while the stopbar bridge/tailpiece brings out the natural resonance of the mahogany body. Unique AX inlays at the 12th enhance it's unique look while bare-knuckled V7 and V8 humbuckers blast out a hefty signal that's aching for serious distortion.

Features:
Mahogany body
3-piece maple prestige neck
Bound rosewood fretboard
V7 humbucker at the neck
V8 humbucker at the bridge
Leather-like finish

Hey!!! Actually, Tom did a cavity search! Not that I was complaining at the time but damn!!! Seriously, We practiced at the beginning of the week and Tom used that guitar... took it home and that was the last it was seen. The thing is, there was a lot more available that would have brought more $$$..... why'd they take that? It was quick.... I'm leaning toward the theory that someone was looking for gas and just grabbed the git'r.

If they're found we are having a ballers weekend out in the stix. This person will be the main event... strapped to the ground with a set of 12's wrapped around their nuts and the other end of the strings bound to a chain connected to a come-a-long tied off to the nearest tree! We'll sit around having some beers.... playing some tunes and everyone will get a turn giving the lever of the come along a few clicks!

If they don't have any balls..... use your imagination!

I think Dan's right. It looks to me like someone ran out of gas and was on foot looking for a gas can. They spied the can and grabbed a guitar also. Since carrying more than one guitar and the can would have been difficult, they only took one. If they hadn't needed the gas can, you'd probably have two guitars missing.

Even if they try and pawn the guitar at a distant location, just about every pawn shop around posts their items on eBay.
... and then the wheel fell off.

That totally sucks. I don't get the mentality of someone who thinks it's okay to steal the property of someone else... but especially something as personal as a guitar... that's just wrong. All of my guitars are special/sentimental for some reason, I could never replace any of them.

The stealing gas is funny. I would venture to guess that had someone knocked on your door & said their car was out of gas you probably would have helped them out with your gas & not had a problem.

Have you recently pissed anyone off?

I'll keep my eye out in my used music store & pawn shop visits in the 'Burgh. That guitar should stick out.

This guys still sucking air some where, and that just isn't kosher. The band and our families will have to be bailed out of jail if we ever find who took it.

What really burns my ass is that I heard you can't claim that as home owners either... Since it "made you money"... I wanna ask another insurance agent about this....but that would suck major weine.. That someone could get away with stealing your sht and you don't get any money back even though ya think it would be covered with that part of insurance....

I got all of my stuff insured 100%. If some drunk breaks or steals something its covered. When you have more in gear than most people have in a car it pays to get insurance.

Okay.... so, we have the thieving bastard identified... so guitar or not, we definitely know who did it!

We'll need several bands, if anyone is interested just pm me.

We'll need an out of the way location.... anyone?

a few kegs... lots of grub.... I have a come-along, and a set of 12's... we'll need some chain to bind the arms and legs to a tree or something... anyone?

what else? Oh yeah... when would be a good weekend for everyone? Should we wait until summer or throw the stompin soon?

I'm not a lawyer, but I think that there's a statue of limitations on backwoods stompin', so you may want to do the stompin' as soon as possible.

*This free legal advice has been brought to you by the good people at old sKool clothing design. Look-out for new summer fashions in your local department store. Remember: It ain't kool if it ain't old sKool!

Well, first off Trace - when we do have that "soiree" - I'll be playin' my Ibanez!!!!!

Yes folks, great news, my baby is sitting right here beside me!!!!

I want to say one thing first - I was EXTREMELY frustrated at one point and said some things about the cops. After sitting and talking with both of them this afternoon - I realized how much they really were "on the case" and trying to figure this out.

But.......

Basically I need to thank my bros from Beyond Reason. The detective work we did truly enabled us to quickly get this guy and get the guitar back!! AMAZING work guys!!!

And, of course I need to thank these guys, my lovely wife, Esa, the Cresson Township Police, the guys from Crazy Hazy's (without them I would never have had a good lead), the guys from VJ's (who worked with me and the police to get the guitar back), other friends and family and last but not least - all of you ROCKPAGERS for all of your support.

I know, I know - sounds like an acceptance speach or something - sorry!!

Anyway, I am estatic right now - so I am going to go show my new guitar some loving. (and yeah Jae, I'll probably sleep with her tonight!!)

Thanks Everyone!!!!!!!

Wow, Thats good news, you're lucky it usually doesn't turn out so well. isn't it a good thing most crooks are stupid ?

So how about a little more details on the story, was he after the guitar and saw the gas can or after gas and saw the guitar ? Any reason he only took the one ? Someone you knew or a stranger ?

Adding my .02 in here. I hope you do prosecute this bastage. And I hope that we do get to give him a stomping and scare the bejesus out of him so that he can change his thieving ways. You know why? What bothers me the most out of all of this...not that he stole your guitar. Not that he stole the gas container (though i was heartbroken over this)... But the fact that that sleezy, good for nothing, low life, butt munch was ballzy enough to go into your garage and take your stuff under your nose. Because that has me scared. If he was "brave" (stupid!) enought to do that...would he have entered your home? And now that he has a reason to hate you (you caught him! how dare you! and he was being so *clever* too) will he every try to enter your house? Because I tell you what, if he did that...My nephew is in that house. And if he were to get brave enough, he will no longer have his sak and sticky fingers can't steal when they're shattered and when your patella's are missing, your legs can't run. I'm short, but I'm fiesty. So... ::just shakes her head::
Sorry...I mean, I was hella excited when you walked in tonight with your fiddle returned...but this nut job gives me not-so-warm-and-fuzzy feelings.

That's awesome , Tom! I know EXACTLY how you feel, 'cause
I had a similar case up at IUP once. 3 guitars were stolen out of an unlocked U-haul trailer attached to my van while we were parked at a buddies doin some post gig partying, and my singer was sleeping in the van. They took a Washburn WB-50 ( les paul replica, fuckin nice)
an ovation, and my USA strat! a few weeks later I got a call from the cops saying that they raided a crack house and think they found one of my guitars, and sure as shit it was my strat! which was wierd because the other two weren't even mine :(
Crazy Feeling, huh?
I was just playing my strat tonight as a matter of fuct!
I have had some other nice ones stolen, too. Makes me wanna cry....
78 Les Paul Studio and a Charvel 475 Deluxe with the $250 Roland GK-2 synth pickup..............God rest their souls................dammit!
CUNTS will be CUNTS.
