Bighead Guitars? Still in business?
Bighead Guitars? Still in business?
I know that the guy that had it is named Paul, and he was in the Northern Cambria area. Does anybody know if he is still in business, or how to get a hold of him?

Danny, I was just thinking of Paul the other day. I had his number some where, but I recently moved and my stuff is thrown in boxes. If I run across it, I'll let you know, unless of course someone on here knows it. I thought he had a website, but all I could find was a myspace, which has no contact info.

No prob my man. I am planning another project myself, I havent played in a long time and I totally gave up on messing with guitars in general for various reasons. Anyway, I want to do a body wrapped in snakeskin and I'd like to get some ideas and tips on how to go about that. I got the material on it's way already, but I'm in no hurry at the moment.
What for idea were you working on?

Don't know how much Paul is painting lately but he does excellent work. Have a couple guitars he's done for me & both are killer. Think he still plays for Driving Sideways & he used to be on Rockpage. Geetarzz, I pm'd a number to you. Looks like his website is down so not sure what he's doing anymore. Also Joe, Paul used to do snakeskin bodies so I'm sure he could give you some tips on that.

Funny, I was just thinking of Paul the other day too. The last time I saw him was about three years ago when he ran sound for us at a wedding. I used to play in a band with Paul, so every week at rehearsal, I'd get to check out whatever new guitar bodies he had gotten in to paint.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
Yeah Paul could paint that with no problem. I've seen several he's painted that are somewhat similar & all were awesome (like the fighter planes, bolted steel, etc). If Paul's not painting any longer send it out to Mike Learn. Mike's work is incredible. If you're not familiar with Mike check him out-

Well, yes I do need some help actually. The piece of rattlesnake that I got was nowhere near the size it needs to be. It's real, but real little. I gave it to my buddy who is going to use it as a shifter boot in his 53 Fairlane. It's in the glovebox of my Mustang at the moment, so I could use it as reference or whatnot as you explain a few things to me.Geetarzz wrote:...And Joe, if you need any help with the snakeskin I may be able to help...
Where did you get your material from? Is the front and rear of the guitar each 1 piece respectively? Would a hot iron be a good way to get it to stretch and be more pliable, or do you have a better method?
What type of glue are you using? etc,etc,etc...

Danny, I have so many darn questions it's not even funny bro.
Any help from you or anyone else would be of great appreciation.
Back on topic for a second;
So, Paul's status is that he only does helmets for the time being due to time constraints, etc??
Is there a valid phone # to reach him? If so, can someone please pm it to me, or perhaps if someone knows him personally, please pm me, and I'll give my # to pass onto him.
There are a few things that I need to get ahold of him about actually.
Thank you guys very much

P.S.
Excellent work Danny, those really look amazing, I'd love to see them up close if you still have them.
The 1st pic of the one with the Maple and brass is to die for!
I also like the 3rd pic with the Maple fretboard Charvel neck.
that Ibanez is most definitely unique, I've never seen an Ibanez done up like that. So cool!
