Altoona Mirror Hometown Favorite

Post by Rain Must Fall »

Greetings ladies and gents! Hope all is well in your end of the Central PA music scene. I was writing to kindly ask for your vote for Rain Must Fall in the Altoona Mirror's Hometown Favorite band category.

Vote HERE.

This has been a great year for us, with the release of our debut album (produced by The Ataris) on iTunes, our trip to Nashville, opening for The Clarks at the RR Museum, and getting national airplay. All in the name of original alternative rock.

Please take a moment out of your busy schedules to cast your vote. We are a hard working original rock band who certainly would appreciate the top spot.

Listen to our music for FREE via our soundcloud if you haven't heard us yet, to see if we deserve your vote.

All our best.

Wow, there are so many bands to choose from! The entertainment press really has a handle on the local music scene, do they not?

I checked the date because I thought it was February 2 all over again!

With so many choices...I am still undecided!

The three bands were the three with the most nominations. There are only three items to vote for in any of the categories. In any case, we are proud to be listed, and thanks to all who keep voting. We look forward to being a part of the ceremonies and performing at The Mishler.

If you want to vote again, you can do so here.

We in R.M.F. would really, really appreciate the recognition for what we put into our original music. Thanks everyone! :)

I can't believe I just spent five minutes reading that Altoona Mirror thread tied to this vote..........some of you people are standing on the dock watching the boat disappear over the horizon. Work hard and stay humble and all this other bullshit does not even matter in the least. If you make yourself believe you are just stuck in some sort of music/culture less Blair void, that only is in your head. As long as there has been art there has been critics(and politics) that will be angled toward a goal. And again these things only matter if you let them.

For the record, I dig all three bands, so I didn't vote. Kudos to Jarrett for being the voice of rationality, which is sometimes hard when keyboard warriors are whining about your band.

Newspaper polls are no huge deal. Absolutely agreed.

We in R.M.F. just ask that people don't get sucked into the flaming posts. You can't win. And we (and our fans) are above slander. Much of what was said is simply not true. If we win cool. If we don't? The sun will rise tomorrow and all three bands will continue to play the local circuit and make waves with the rest of the awesome bands in our area. There are so many to choose from.

I kind of regret that we ever were nominated to be honest. So many people believe it is unfair/political, and whatever. The details could be argued to the 10th degree. And have been. We are so happy to be nominated with Felix and The Hurricanes and Flight 19. I think Felix and The Hurricanes are the perfect role models for up and coming musicians. They handle themselves with grace, work hard, and have my own personal vote for hometown favorite.

In any case, for a poll that doesn't mean much, people are sure heated over it.

At the end of the day, a haters gonna hate. No matter what. Hope to see some people vote for us, and come out to see us at ALDO's on October 12th while we record our live album. We'll be unleashing a number of new originals too. At least give us that!

THAT is what gets US going!

Now, back to the music.

Ya know what Paul, so do I and so didn't I.

Quite frankly, its unfortunate that this issue came up on an RMF (or any band's) thread because the bands really have nothing to do with Musical Groundhog Day and Hero Worship. Perhaps I should have just started my rant on my own thread, except that, aside from Tech Sector and For Sale, I rarely start threads.

Congratulations on your accomplishments RMF.

I don't even bother to have a stake in this business anymore, but when i see hero worship and hear the unsolicited rants of the worshipers on an almost daily basis, it infuriates me. Doh! I thought about it again! Excuse me, I gotta go puke...

Way to turn that back around, Mike. Bringing it back to the music and shows, that shows class. Also, a shameless plug for your gigs.
