Music between Sets

Post by TheBMC »

So I was working on putting some new tunes together on my playlist for between sets when we have a gig and thought it would be cool to have original tunes from local bands to help promote them on my playlist. If any of you original bands out there have a good recording of some of your music and want it played send it my way and i'll make sure it's on the playlist. it would be AWESOME if I ended up with enough tunes to have only local bands tunes between sets playing.

This is a great idea. I do a lot of work with lots of different bands and always want something different in between sets.

It would be great if there was an FTP site or something within rock page that we could all share our originals within. Then we could use these for between sets and help promote each other.

Dude, that's a great f*ckin idea and I can't believe I never thought of that before...lol! Do it! I'll try to do the same once I get my band going. Everyone should do this. Might be a good idea to pass out small flyers or something with the playlist on it so people know what bands they're listening to. And I think the FTP is a good idea. Wonder if the owners of RP would be up for that?

It'd be cool to have a compilation CD to go with it, and/or a URL on the flyer where people could go to download the songs.

Another suggestion: Submit songs that don't have profanity so they don't have to be cut from the playlist at all age shows and benefits.

Just don't play it really loud. I can't stand when a band goes on break, and the in between music is as loud as the band. The people at the show need a break too.

WOW! I'm glad everyone likes this idea. I'll see if I can't touch base with the webmaster here to see if they are interested in setting up an ftp site here .. if not I may be able to come up with something myself. I'll keep you all posted.. and any other ideas like the playlist sheet to hand out ect please let me know.

I sent off an email to the webmaster but to get something started now while the idea is fresh I created a dropbox account. I'm going to not post the username and password on the forum but if you want to take part in this please email me and I'll send the credentials to you. Once we get a better solution I'll move what has been put in to dropbox at that time.

PM me or email me at ryansmccracken@gmail.com

Thanks,
Ryan

I talked with the webmaster and they don't have space here to do it. I just purchased a domain and sometime over the next month I will have a permanent solution for the original music share. For now we can continue to use dropbox and I'll move that data once the site is ready. the domain is www.locallivemusic.org but of course is not live yet.
