Do modern novelty songs count?

Jon Lajoie - Show Me Your Genitals

That's not even remotely safe for work. Unless you work at the Adult Book Store. Not that I know what those are.

Also, Spinal Tap.

I've been involved with a recording project since high school, and we have more than our fair share of original novelty songs. (That and jazz)

Thank you for mentioning Jim Stafford, Joe. I totally forgot about him. I have to dig out his cd again.

How about CW McCall?

Convoy...

Here is the theme song from the movie:

Here is the original:

Here is 'Around the world with the Rubber Duck' (Continuation of Convoy):

Listening to C.W McCall makes me think of my CB days. My handle was French Fry. Those were fun days.

Best local band you never heard. Click the links, if you don't believe me. My favorites are the ones that sound like 70's TV show themes, but it's all good!

I met this Canadian band a few years ago. They had a hit with this song in Canada and gave me their CD. Phil Naro from this group is a singer-songwriter and producer originally from Rochester, New York. He is best known as the frontman for Billy Sheehan’s Talas in the mid-1980s.

I will send this one out to Songsmith

Love it! Reminds me of one they used to play on WDVE... it sounded like Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and the hook-line was "Baby, BLOW ME... a kiss before you leave..."

I actually got a request for this at the gig last night, ironically from a neo-hippie type of girl. I played it years ago when I was doing some sub work, but we've never played it. It actually has a somewhat complex arrangement for a 90s alternative novelty song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEDw9xgSmSc

Unfortunately, this video is missing the beginning section were the bass plays a run based out of some exotic non-Western mode.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
