Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the July 15 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).
This week, we took the opportunity to empty the “Homegrown Rocker” mailboxes to explore some new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks. Obviously, new music was the theme of this week, as we debuted new songs from Seven2Ten, Corelok, Ted McCloskey, Shane Speal, Distortion of Events, Shattered, Images Of Eden, Fist Fight in the Parking Lot, On the Run and A Faster Ride. We also updated “Local Music News,” dug a 1996 song by Oh Ruby from the archive for this week’s “Local Music Flashback,” ventured "Across State Lines" to hear a song by Wichita, Kansas rockers Soulicit, and reviewed two CD’s in “The Professor’s CD Corner”; dissecting StarChild’s Volume I disc during the first hour, and Ten Throne’s Desolate Day in the second hour. A busy week!

We’ll get reacquainted with Gordon and his career to date, and learn about his current projects. We will also hear music from his various projects as well. Along the way, we will also update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for another “Local Music Flashback,” and review The Parachuting Apostles’ self-titled CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Gordon Tittsworth returns to the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

A benefit concert to help out a family battling health issues will take place in Huntingdon County later this month. The Benefit for Crystal Cannon & Family will happen on Friday evening, July 27, at the Hill Valley Inn near Mount Union. Proceeds will help out Crystal and Paul Cannon, both who have undergone recent medical treatments and surgeries. The benefit will start at 6 p.m., and will feature performances from the bands Timber Tantrum, Drop Dead Sarcasm, Gun Metal Gray, RTL (Represent The Lie) and A Beautiful Mess. Donation at the door will be $5 per person, or $8 per couple.
Pennsylvania rockers Candlelight Red have secured a spot on the 2012 Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival, which they will start one month after wrapping up tours with Lacuna Coil and Crossfade. The group will perform on one of two festival stages, which will also include P.O.D., Deuce, Fozzy, Redlight King, Mindset Evolution, In This Moment, and Thousand Foot Krutch. And on the Main Stage will be Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, Papa Roach, and Adelitas Way. The UPROAR Festival will come to Montage Mountain near Scranton on August 28, and First Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown on August 31.
Candlelight Red has also hooked up with Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose to produce their forthcoming new EP. The group will record that disc shortly at Arkitekt Studios in Butler, New Jersey. Earlier this year, the group saw a change behind the drum kit, as Josh Hetrick left the group and Brian Dugan replaced him.
