Would an Off-Topic forum be possible?
I frequent other discussion boards and they all seem to have an off-topic forum; it really worked well around election time. This may have been asked before, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask again. Could the General Discussion be more music centrated, or even renamed to reflect that? Any other topics (Bush sucks, I love beans, Bob Lee owns WS Lee and is the spawn of Satan) could get put someplace that no one could complain. Just an idea, I realize that more policing would have to take place, and I'm sure Ron is busy enough as it is. Please add your $.02

hmmm
Beans? I must have missed that post, but it really depends on the type of bean for me.
I like greenbeans and refried beans, but I'm not really of fan of baked beans. I can eat them, but not a big fan.
As far as lima beans, I put them in the same category as peas....BLAAAAAGH.

I am REALLY not trying to be funny with this post!!!
Have you looked through some of the topics under General Discussion?? Maybe there should be a forum dedicated to obituaries.
It is really sad how many topics related to the death of musicians (local and national) and their families.

This would be "general discussion" area of rock page. I don't see where it says "music only discussion". So.. feel free to talk about beans, death, or whatever. This is where I spend my time. If it was only set to X kind of music talk, I'd never type again. Since, ya know, I'm "not a musician" or something like that (I was told once...)

I agree with Lisa. At least that is how I interpreted the "General Discussion" forum. I would never guessed that this forum is strictly about music - especially from the title.esa wrote:This would be "general discussion" area of rock page. I guess my question is this: What is the big deal? If you don't like the topic, you don't have to read or reply to it. There are many topics in this section that I pass over for various reasons.
Also, some of the most read and most replied to topics have been "Non-Musical" topics.
So, what is it hurting?

I'm not saying that it's hurting anything, nor do I care to read off-topic posts,it just works really well on other sites.

Wal-Mart's got some great black bean salsa. Good for mixing with chili. And their hot salsa is damn good too. A buck-fitty for a large jar. It's kinda like a sore peter, ya just can't beat 'er.orangekick wrote:I like black beans and rice. That's some good stuff. Put that in a tortilla with some chicken, spicy sauce, cheese... Mmmm damn that's good.

Adzuki Beans: These are small, reddish-brown beans, rounded in shape with a point at one end. They have a strong, nutty, sweet flavour, and are much used in the macrobiotic diet, because as Eunice Farmilañt says in Macrobiotic Cooking they are "the most yang of Beans". They probably originate from China, and are imported from China and Thailand where they are harvested in November and December. In the Orient, adzuki beans are usually cooked to a red soft consistency and served with such ingredients as coconut milk. They are also cooked with rice, their bright colour tinting the rice an attractive pink, as in the Japanese, Red-cooked Festival Rice. In the East it's also common to find, adzuki beans sweetened with sugar and made into cakes and sweetmeats.ZappasWife wrote:I like Adzuki beans
Zappas Wife, why are the words "yang," "attractive pink" and "sweetmeats" jumping out at me when I read this description? You pervert!~

I like beans too. Lima, Baked, Red, Black, Navy, Green, Lentil, Garbanzo, Kidney, Mexican Jumping, Great Northern, Pinto, Soup, Refried and Jellybeans. I likes em all! Hell I can even make music with beans which brings this thread full circle back to music. My next performance will be approx 6am in my room. Requests are encouraged. I hear that Byndrsn likes "Carrots"! Just don't ask where he keeps them. How bout Peas? How comes nobody mentioned any other Leguminosae? Huh?

You know, speaking of peas, they really are an underrated food. They have a slight pop when you bite into them, yet become a mushy almost cream of wheaty texture. Really, peas can be used in much the same manner as beans. They aren't really the main course, but when used to highlight a hearty meal such as "Chicken and Dumplings," peas become 'da bomb. Peas do, however, hold the distinction of being able to be eaten by themselves with no garnishing, or in soups and/or casseroles. Only corn can claim that unique spot. In fact, canned corn, peas and green beans are among the 5 best selling vegetables in the northeast.
