OOOO!!! Good one Bobby!! Sooo easy to use the BITCH word when a woman is speaking her mind.Hurricane wrote:No, i couldnt stand the bitching.CHICKSINGA wrote:Shit Bob if that was true you'd be openin' for me, RIGHT?
Honestly, dear I wish NONE of this was true...

What made any of this about me or what the hell I have or haven't done? This was a thread about tribute bands. Go back to that topic. Or start a new thread and entitle it "I'm better than you".CHICKSINGA wrote:Well now Andrea, AS I SAID, I wasn't taking kindly to being talked down to by someone who may not have the bullets to shoot. Get my drift. honey?
I'm not bragging what I said is just true, what is it that makes you such that you can call me a braggart? Are you in a band? I'd love to check out your chops. Seriously. I would love to see just what makes you soooo smart.
Let's hear this resume - or are we talkin about something else, wink wink?
And if we are, well there you go.

I'm not pissed at all. I am actually kinda chuckling at all of this. You're a pretty funny gal.CHICKSINGA wrote:Twist it any way you want. I called you out, now you're pissed.
Yes it WAS about TRIBUTE BANDS. Now WHO made it about more?
I NEVER said I was BETTER than anyone. I have said the truth and it pisses people off.

I'm going to get on this and place my own opinion. When it comes to getting gigs, as a new band, it is all in who you know, and how much you're willing to sell what you've got. Having friendships between musicians is such a great thing, and to be honest, I haven't met a local musician yet who hasn't supported us. To be able to get gigs, and make your presence known its about networking. And I tell you what I've made some awesome friends along the way. For example, Felix and the gang had Kayla and I on stage for a little bit up at the blue moon one night, and Bobby gave us shout outs, before we even had a setlist together. And to be honest as a musician in a cover/blues band, it doesn't matter if you're playing originals or covers or tribute or being a karaoke band(which seriously I think is an awesome creative idea and being able to play over 1000 songs? holy crap I hope to be there someday.) it ALL takes blood, sweat, time and tears and whatever you're willing to put into it to make it. And honestly the money is nice, but my heart is in the music so the money is just a bonus. Another thing with playing benefits, I think it's awesome to see people contribute their time to something, I know I can't financially donate to certain causes but damn if I can do something that I love to do and have it help someone out then that brings me great joy. And I think its great that people are giving us chances to play with them and be heard and inviting to big events. But in conclusion to my opinion, camaraderie, which is not dead in my opinion between musicians and having good friends will get you far and cutting people down just because its your opinion isn't very cool. And honestly I'm all for standing up for what you believe in, but not at someone else's expense, that's just rude and uncalled for.

Well that’s all fine and good but I'm not really trying to be funny.
I am trying to point out some facts that affect us all -
ok, that’s not true, some seem to be EXEMPT from these things.
I pushed buttons and a lot of the replies have proven those buttons needed pushed. I have heard some pretty ugly things as of late, the tribute post just brought that to light. If I am the bad guy, so be it.
Truth hurts.
But honestly people, no matter what you think of yourself or your talent
there isn't a one of us out there that is soooo good our ass can't be spanked by someone else. There are NO SUPERSTARS here.
So why are we not better to each other? Why monopolize and use nasty tactics to get what you want? When I started talking on Rockpage over 10 years ago it was like a brethren. Now bands are selfish, cut throat and willing to do whatever it takes to get the gig before the other guy.
People out there are believing their own press and thinking themselves much more legend than they ought.
TRIBUTES (the ones that PRETEND to BE a BAND) are just one more link that is weakening a chain we once had strong.

I wasn't being funny either. And in response to your superstar comment, that's exactly what i was addressing. You seem to think everyones against each other when in reality...we're not. And I actually feel sorry that you think everyone is.CHICKSINGA wrote:Well that’s all fine and good but I'm not really trying to be funny.

Its funny that we share the same tag line (it's been mine since the beginning)ZappasXWife wrote:I think I'm quitting Rockpage...this is the one that did it. WOW. Although, I will admit it was a little riveting. AND I do like beans.
If Music be the Food of Love play on...
If Tributes make you happy, go for it
If out of town bands make you happy go for it
If seeing the SAME BAND all the time makes you happy go for it
But I don't have to.

I Don't think EVERYONE is. I KNOW that some are. I won't name names, they know exactly what I am talking about. Some have revealed themselves already. Dirty tricks catch up. Whoa "HONEY" I never called you a braggart, I simply said if he didn't want to brag about his accomplishments. Where in there does it imply that Trace Baker is s braggart?
Am I in a band? Yeah, an original punk band. I have complimented you in the past about how I admired your "chops", I, though, am not a vocalist. I wish that I was, I have tried to be and truth be told I guess I wasn't good enough. I greatly admire those who can sing. I also admire those who can play guitar, drums, bass, violin, flute, piano. I admire those who get up everyday and work hard to put food on their table. I admire those fighting for our country, and on and on and on. I play bass, and I'm actually not too shabby.
What makes me so smart? Or rather "sooo" smart? Do you want a transcript of my grades when I was in college?
Actually, sweetie pie (we are on such a friendly level that we use patronizing terms of endearment, correct?) I have never met Steve Stuckey. I wouldn't even know him if he walked into the room. I was friends with a couple of his previous bandmates. The implication I may be the type of gal who sleeps her way into band members world in order to be a part of it is about t rudest and most insulting thing you said on here. You do not know me. I busted my ass, maybe not in LA, as if that even matters! I have worked my ass off to learn my instrument, as well as several others. I have the same damn callouses on my finger tips as you do, toots. So I think your implication that im some kind of groupie deserves an apology.
