Post by JayBird »

Two minutes ago I read a very AWESOME e-mail!

LOST LEDNY will be opening for MUSHROOMHEAD at the Cove Nite Club in Geneva, OH.

As of right now all I know is that the band is on the bill...as more becomes available, I'll post it!

While I personally can't stand mushroomhead (they are Slipknot wanna-be's), I'm happy for you guys getting with the "big namers". Coolios and congrats.

Actually.. Mushroomhead was doing the MASK thing WAAAAYYYYYY before slipknot.. I saw Mushroomhead at Aldos years ago.. and they were way more extreme than they are today..

Yeah, Mushroomhead has been together for more than 10 years. They turned down a deal with Roadrunner records and they believe that Roadrunner kinda stole their act and found a band willing to give the mask thing a try. Slipknot originally had three of the same masks as Mushroomhead...they also wore blue jump suits just like Mushroomhead. Mushroomhead opted for camo and face paint after this whole incident. Mushroomhead wore the masks originally because they were all in other bands and didn't want anyone to know about this side project. The side project took off and they decide to make "Mushroomhed" their main project. You can read all about it at www.mushroomhead.org - it's rather interesting!

I remember that Mushroomhead gig at Aldo's. That's the most scared I've ever seen Aldo in my years of covering live music there, lol! I don't know if they still have them as part of their stage act now, but back then Mushroomhead had two members of their entourage who served as "exhibitionists," and by the end of that show they were "exhibiting" more information than Aldo probably would have wanted...

That show at Aldo's was pure insanity, I had never seen anything like it at the time. I do remember thinking the entire PA was going to go up in smoke.

To each his own.

I myself am a huge Slipknot fan, and would argue the points between Slipknot and Mushroomhead. You can ask Esa, if there was a Slipknot article..I read it. They also were out 10 yrs ago playing in Iowa when they only hand six people in the band, Corey Tayler wasn't singing (as a matter of fact, Corey was singing with Stone Sour at that point in time) and they were all wearing some sort of disquise, and it wasn't always the same thing.

I'm not going to stand and argue about who is right, and who is wrong, but I just wanted to add my .02.

You know what I say? Who cares which band was first, I mean look at all the punk bands out there that all sound the same. Nobody cares who was first with all that...Look at all the Blues bands, nobody cares who started before who...Look at all the Metal bands...etc. ect. Music is music my friends and being first doesn't mean she-ite. What you play is what you play and if masks are your thing, whatever. lol I hate talking about originality in bands, because nothing is truly original. You can't find a chord that hasn't been played! :D

Just confirmed the time slot for Lost Ledny...7:30-8:00!

Also, JP...the one girls names in the "exhibiting" crew was Roxy...she left the band and that is when Mushroomhead decided to get rid of that part of their stage show. When she left their attendance dropped and they realized that many people were showing up just for her and not for the band. They turned their efforts towards their music and the band from that point on...
