Music trivia - Name this artist.
I am thinking of an artist (Solo Artist, not band). This artist holds the record for the most singles, albums, and ep's on the U.K. top 20 charts. Can you tell me who this artist is?

Re: Devil Woman
I will go with Cliff Richard as well. Between his solo records and his work with The Shadows, he has had a ton of hits in Europe.tornandfrayed wrote:Cliff Richards! Biggest hit here was "Devil Woman" maybe?

Yes! It is Cliff Richards. Great job, Dave. I knew someone here knew it.
Here is his bio:
[snip]
Over a 53-year career, Richard has become a fixture of the British entertainment world, amassing many gold and platinum discs and awards, including three Brit awards and two Ivor Novello awards. He has had more than 130 singles, albums and EPs make the UK Top 20, more than any other artist and holds the record (with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its first six decades (1950s–2000s). He has achieved 14 UK No. 1 singles (or 18, depending on the counting methodology) and is the only singer to have had a No. 1 single in the UK in six consecutive decades: the 1950s through to the 2000s (discounting digital downloads and counting only CDs, he had a UK No. 1 single in the 2000s). Richard is the third biggest selling singles artist of all time in the UK, with total sales of over 21 million, and has reportedly sold an estimated 250 million records worldwide.
[/snip]
Cliff Richards was Englands version of Elvis. Although he never achieved the same success in the U.S as he did in England, he still had a couple of hits here in the late 70's (His biggest hits were "Devil Women" and "We don't talk anymore"). He is currently the third best selling artist in U.K. history with The Beatels being number one and Elvis being number two.
On a side note: It is a amazing that Elvis can have that much success in other countries when he never performed outside the U.S.
