I'm not sure of the online way give a standing ovation, but I'd like to. Closing the political thread is one of the best things I've seen happen on Rockpage. I truly feel that it was a cancer upon the local scene and I am VERY excited to see musicianship and friendship flourish without it.
Many thanks, JP!

Odd
Strikes ma as interesting that people requested the page be closed rather then just not read it!
But whatever, the "For Sale" thread is still there... Peace everybody!

That might even be worse. When you go to the forums page, the "OFF TOPIC" link would always be marked as "updated since your last visit."bfoust wrote:I don't get it. It's not that hard to add an "Off topic" forum and move it all there. It's just a few clicks.
Instead of just ignoring a thread, people might be inclined to click the OT link to see if there were other topics of interest, only to find another political update.

Choosing not to click on the thread was easy, but I think Bobby summed it up pretty well when he said that it's one of the first things newbies are gonna read and get turned off on Rockpage. It was a source of amusement for me and I'm sure others, but someone new may have read that and thought we were just a bunch of assholes.
As far as censorship, Rockpage is a private website (there are a bunch of you here who hold private property rights paramount, no?), so we're all allowed to post here by the grace of Ron. It's not 4chan, but Rockpage is probably one of the most lax forums I've ever frequented since my time on the Internet. At my primary forum haunt, the actors in the political thread would have been banned years ago. I'm not making a value judgment on that one way or another, but just throwing a frame of reference out there.
