I am looking to form a 3-piece rap side project with a bass player and drummer. I am based out of Altoona, but am definitley able and willing to work with others outside of Altoona. I would play guitar and sing/rap. Ideally, the bass player should be funk/groove oriented. Ideally, the drummer should just be able to keep a tight beat and use the smallest kit possible. The ability to sing backup vocals/harmonies or rap is a definite plus.
I am currently involved with another project, The Good Seeds, so I am just seeking this out as a fun side project with others who just want to have fun with it. My band does a few rap covers but I am interested in the prospects of starting a project that is exclusive to hip-hop only (hip hop meaning: rap, gangsta rap, freestyle, R&B etc). Sorry, but this is straight forward 3 or 4 chord max music with a straight 4/4 beat not meant for the musical elite. I have good equipment and the ability to record quality tracks which could be emailed back and forth to other members to help avoid having to practice all the time. At most, I would only be looking to get together as a group to practice this stuff once every other week.
I am currently in the process of writing original hip-hop compositions, but I definitely want to pay tribute to some of my boyhood idols and modern day rappers by covering songs from some of the following artists:
Snopp Dogg
Dre
Eminem
Warren G.
Lil Wayne
Beastie Boys
Nelly
Tupac
Notorious B.I.G.
Jay Z
Q-Tip
Run DMC
Justin Timberlake
Vanilla Ice
The list could go on and on
I really think this could be done well and tastefully with the right group of musicians. PM me if interested.

I think it's a good idea for this area. It's definitely a hole that is missing in this area and your project could fill a missing gap. I bet a good keyboard player will add alot too. Good luck.
