Secrets Lie Within: How Rock is Done

Post by SecretsLieWithin »

We're a band coming straight out of Pittsburgh. Check out our website http://www.secretsliewithin.tk and then check us out on Pure Volume and MySpace so you can finally lose your rock virginity!

Secrets Lie Within is a Hard Pop-Punk three piece from Pittsburgh. The heavy guitar is laid down by Mike Duran, the pop bass lines are thrown out by Josh Hovanec, and in the back fusing punk and hip-hop beats is Andy Marsh. The trio is currently recording a demo featuring all new songs by the band plus two old favorites. Keep an eye on http://www.myspace.com/secretsliewithin and http://www.purevolume.com/secretsliewithin for exclusive MP3's and photos, and you will be rocked in every way possible.

Years of cocaine addiction have rendered me impotent, so I won't be losing my Rock virginity anytime soon. :(

Yeah, and then punk became a clique of people... which we won't comform to. See we're still rebelling, you just didn't realize it. Besides all the bands that started punk eventually got commercialized to hell by corporations. You see that Sex Pistols t-shirt you got on? Some rich white American dude just got a ton of money for selling it to you.

It was a figure of speech man, I didn't mean everyone looking at this literally had a Sex Pistols T-shirt on... I figured we'd all be able to pick up on that.

You'd think that. We're a pop-punk band in the loosest way possible. That's just the fastest way to describe the band, but we play a lot heavier than normal pop-punk bands, it's just sort of where we started like 5 years ago.

Oh man, do you mean my shirt that says "Punk Rock Forever" that I bought from Hot Topic in order to display my nonconforminity, originality, and love of Blink-182 is actually from a large capitalistic enterprise cashing in on pseudo-teenage angst? Now I don't believe in anything. :( (I guess that means I'll have to learn a few Nietzsche quotes, so everyone will think of me as an enlightened nilhilist intellectual)

While the joking (at least on my end) has been in jest, if one stumbles into a forum unknown and claims that their band is "how rock is done" ( I don't know; maybe it was done tongue-in-cheek, but I couldn't pick up on it), they should expect a little bit of hazing.

I half agree but this site is filled with alot of very good musicians and coming on strong and all that really isn't the way to enter the site maybe more of a " Hi, we're a new band check us out " Not " Hi, we're the best "

Haha at least someone realized that I didn't think we were really the best band of all time. Yes, I wasn't actually being that cocky, Actually "How Rock is Done" is probably going to be the name of the album we are recording that I mentioned. I wasn't trying to pick on anyone really haha.

Welcome to the Forum.
Enjoy the Hazing.
Get quick with the tongue and cheek 'cuz we got it out the wazoo here. We hold tight to each other and protect our own while still supporting the newbies. Just remember, words are harder to figure out meanings behind when they're typed and not spoken. That be what the icons are for. ::noddles::

and you guys made fun of me when I said heavy metal was the only thing drawing 150+ people at my place. I hate metal and I hate punk rock but you gotta respect the creativity that goes in to every type of music and for some reason the following is large, whether we like it or not. maybe thats our problem, we want everyone to appreciate what we do and cannot accept the fact that what they do is just as good in their own arena.

Andrew, whay the fuck did you start? Ha ha.

I dig Secrets Lie Within. They're good people, and the "how rock is done" is definitely toungue-in-cheek.

I listen to their shit all the time in my car.

As far as the whole definition of punk... don't get me started. For what it's worth though, I think SLW stepped out of the 'pop punk' box a long time ago. Their stuff's a little more thoughful & intricate now.

Hey, Bassist25, you freaking enlightened nihlist intellectual! :P I swear I have no idea what my sig line means, but you gotta admit, it sounds VERY metal.
I figured the "How Rock Is Done" thing was a take on "How Chicken Is Done." My album's gonna be called,"Johnny. You blow him." or something like that. ------->JMS

Actually I took it from A1 steak sauce... yes... we are the sauce on a rock platter... now that's an un-sexy thought.
