GGGreat front man

Post by jetcitywoman »

On another unrelated thread someone said something about your frontman must be "on" at all times regardless of size of audience. (i agree, BTW)

Gave me the idea for another great thread..

Great (not just good) but great frontmen! 1 percenters, 1%.

Regardless of the bands success or other, who do you feel is a 1%'er frontman?

Looking forward to your replies.

ps: doesn't have to be local, can be an obscure band or a national treasure. give YOUR 1% here.

just from personal experience, my favorite front man would be Brent Smith from Shinedown. they put on an intense live show.

Now, you just new he was going to be a star!

Frontman doesn't have to be goodlooking (all though JL is!), he doesn't even have to be great vocal (all thougfh JL is!), but he does have to be charismatic (JL is!) 8)

just new he was going to a star!

Why do I think he's a great frontman? Because he's intense, he commands the audience.the audience responds and goes insane. Its always a great experience.

Great frontman? The first ones that comes to mind for me are Mick Jagger, Freddy Mercury, Bono, David Bowie, Robert Plant, Brian Johnson, Bruce Dickenson, Eric Adams, Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper, Jim Morrison, Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford, David Lee Roth. The list can go on and on, etc, etc, etc, etc....

I would also add Elvis to the list, but I'm not sure if he would fall into the category or not. If so, then Elvis would be the greatest of all time.

Also add Layne Stayley, Eddy Vedder, Chris Cornell, and Axle Rose to the list. I could do this all day.

I don't see Freddie Mercury mentioned anywhere--of course, he played keys too.

Tina Turner is still impressive.

Most of my favorite bands don't have front men...putting a sausage down their pants and spitting into a phallic object never impressed me much.

For those who had the chance to see him in his prime, Ian Anderson is a dominating stage presence...just not a glam guy:

Ian Anderson = great frontman
Also I get tired of the Rolling Stones but Mick Jagger was always a GREAT frontman.

Freddie is awesome frontman. He has it all, vocals, prescence, charisma.

HE HAD IT ALL.

We still love you Freddie!

No, I didn't mention Geoff Tate. I said the list can go on and on. Tate is in my top five list of the greatest voices in rock.
