Playing Music
Playing Music
After replying to "The Crue" thread, I got the idea for this one. (I'm sure it's been asked in the past) What or who made you decide to become a musician? Was it a concert? A family member? What?
John Charney and JR Rubel (<--- I think that is how he spelled his last name). My dad, uncles and cousins always inspired me to want to play but it wasn't until I saw these two guys play when I was in the 9th grade and found out that chicks liked guys in a band
that I really had the desire to play. I don't know what ever happened to JR... the kid used to have his mom lock him in the attic or his room or some shit until he learned a particular Maiden tune from the latest guitar mag tab... And he could rip back then.
Charney however is still local and still rippin' it up. God Bless ya Brutha!! You Rock!!!

Playing Music
A family rule at our place was...want to play sports and hunt? Have to learn an instrument. My brother and I had to take Piano lessons until we reached High School and then it was our choice.
I was always really into music and watching my Dad play guitar got kept me going. By high school, I transfered to Bass lessons and then watching Lovefry practice at my brother's apartment in State College and Badwrench play at Lakemont sealed the deal for me. I was hooked.

Well...started piano when i was a baby... and took flute in gradeschool... anything after that i started so that i could get attention from my family. when you're the daughter of a successful oldies band family...you'll do anything to get your fathers' attention. and uncles. and cousins. and boyfriends.
plus, ya know the chicks dig it.

Heh.
I was always a fan of all kinds of music, then in Jr. hihg I got into punk and metal simultanously... I really didn't see the difference other than production. Heh. The Misfits were so catchy, & the bootlegs were so f'n raw... I was like "I could do this!"... so lots of guitar playing, influences, and friends later... I helped form AiXeLsyD.
